Walsh was declared the best player in finals playing a whole game less than Daicos ..

oh dear how embarrassing for superstar Daicos...cant even beat a bloke playing an whole extra game and a GF at that - which his team won even..

LOL

You clearly do not understand Sam Walsh as a footballer. Where I have no doubt people would concede Daicos is a more damaging ball user, Walsh is much stronger in a contest. Walsh was 6 months younger than Daicos when he was recruited, which is roughly the average amount all players are younger than Daicos was at that time when they are recruited. So Walsh's 3rd season in 2021 is just as apt for comparison to Daicos's second season in 2023 as Walsh's second season is.

Walsh 2021 v Daicos 2023 comparison with a focus on contest/ball winning.

Possessions 30 v 27.3
Contested Possessions 11.5 v 9.0
Player Ratings 14.02 v 15.39
Brownlow votes 1.4 v 1.4
Coaches votes 4.18 v 4.91
Groundball gets 8.8 v 7.0
Clearances 4.7 v 4.0
Contested Marks 0.3 v 0.0
Score Involvements 6.5 v 6.6
Tackles 4.5 v 3.8
Pressure Acts 22.9 v 19.0
1%ers 0.8 v 0.5
Also happens to be Walsh's best season in his five years in the system.

Also like how you rounded up Walsh's average Brownlow votes...

So his best year is comparable to Daicos' second year, but probably still a touch below it given as you say Daicos is a far superior ball user and was influential in two finals that resulted in a premiership (and we know how important finals are to you)?

Not sure what point you're trying to make, given Walsh is also acknowledged as one of the best players in the competition?

Um, some simple maths for you:

2 (number of games Daicos played) - 3 (number of games Walsh played) = -1.

Oh dear, you really are Just a Battler....

LOL indeed.

Well let's see shall we...after 2 years :

Apart from being widely regarded as reigning premier Collingwood's best player and the second best player in the comp behind Bont:

He has:
won the rising star, Bob Rose cup, AFLPA best first year player, 2x AA U/22, AfLCA best young player, Anzac day medal, AA best 22 selection, 3rd in Brownlow and would have won but for injury. Premiership medal and one of his team's best players in the grand final .

I hope that answers your question for you
So sorting through the chaff...

He has made the All Australian team once and has played in a Premiership.

There's a few of them around.

A whole game less? Can you count past 3? ;)

Errr...I was answering a point in a post about their respective contested capabilities.

Daicos was influential in 2 finals was he....in the Preliminary Final he had 2 score involvements, one of which was a missed shot at goal no goals no assists. He got no votes, wasn't in Collingwood's best, and achieved a player rating of about 8. You could as easily say anyone who participated in the match was influential.

I agree. Daicos was good in that final but after coming back from injury not his usual self. I also think Mcrae kept him on the bench a lot more then usual (think he started there as well).

Daicos played 80% game time in the PF, which is roughly average for an AFL footballer, though towards the lower end of his own normal range of game times.

Actually, Daicos missed the Melbourne Final.

So it was even more of a fail comment from The Battler...

The fact remains, Walsh has played 3 finals in his life for 23 coaches votes: 8, 10, 5. Average = 7.66 per finals match.

Daicos has played 5 finals for 6 coaches votes. Average = 1.2 per finals match.

In finals it has been:

Walsh

Then daylight

Then daycos.

Superstar Daicos would now require exactly 14 perfect 10 out of 10 vote games in succession to surpass Walsh's finals coaches votes average. He might want to start adding hard ball gets to his repertoire, usually goes down well with coaches in finals.

Walsh finals contested possession average = 13.66
Daylight then Daycos finals contested possession average = 7.4

Absolutely love the bloke but there’s plenty of young players who are very close to his level, seems drafts are getting heavier and heavier as well so will be interesting to see how the comp is talent wise in 5-6 years time

Walsh has never played in a grand final where the votes have a 1.5x loading.

What he did in 2023, winning the Gary Ayres without playing in the grand final, is nothing short of unbelievable.

Players like Martin and Walsh who elevate to another level in finals are worth their weight in gold 💪🏻

Probably starting to see the fruits of the lower comps becoming more and more professional.

Say what you want about academies but it has probably caused an arms race with the other Jnr NAB league/TAC cup clubs to up their game.

Finishing 3rd in the Brownlow second year is "chaff" 😂

Ok Name the other second year players who come even close to his list of awards.
