at least you're not denying it
They all had a crack about Craig Bradley being a bin chicken, now the shoe is on the other foot and they're talking GOAT statusat least you're not denying it
but the pies fans put up so many excuses for Daicos' softness and squibbing . Things like 'it's not his role', 'he outthinks his opponents'. Some nutters even tried to denied that the squibs were actually squibs. But then you see toughnuts like Bowey who is actually significantly smaller than Daicos who puts his body on the line for the team at every contest.
His number 1 job is to stay alive, if he starts playing like Bowey his career will be shortat least you're not denying it

Being scared of contact isn't a switch you can miraculously flick. His number 1 job is to stay alive, if he starts playing like Bowey his career will be short
He'll get better at the harder stuff in due course like his old man did

Ah rubbishBeing scared of contact isn't a switch you can miraculously flick.
You either love it, or you don't.
Naicos has shown a number of times that he will avoid contact, where possible, as well as hearing footsteps.
Now, that certainly won't stop him from being an amazing player, he already is.
But one would expect the GOAT to not be afraid of his own shadow.
Would definitely expect him to be in the top echelon of players throughout his career though but let's see what kind of influence he can have when the team drops off with all the pending retirements over the next 2-3 years.
Being the main man in the midfield seems unlikely at this point, due to his aversion to contact.
Will he look as good when the team can't get it to him on the outside?
Time will tell.
Take note of how Bowey just put his body on the line despite being the smallest guy on the field. Daicos hasn't done that once in his career.
Hodge, Voss, Selwood all dumb and reckless in your eyes. One of the silliest things I've read in a decade on bigfooty.Your delusion is comical.
You literally just had one of the best wingers in the comp retire due to being reckless throughout his career.
What Bowey did was dumb af, reminded me of Nathan Murphy, how he is so dumb with how he has zero awareness/understanding of putting himself into, rather than avoiding dangerous situations.
AFL is playing the fine line of putting your body on the line and understanding when to choose self preservation instead.
Your boy Jake Bowey will think twice next time that same spoil option is in front of him, bad shoulders cut careers short.
You need to hydrate yourself, your crocodile tears salty af, seeya.
He could be as big as Eddie Hall.Ah rubbish
A few more summers in the gym and he'll be knocking blokes out like Leigh Matthews
This guy means business!! Barely out of puberty and he's already the most dangerous weapon in the game

Yes, running down the middle of the ground and attempting to kick the ball normally, all whilst some complete moron jumps into you without a care in the world, is 'reckless'You literally just had one of the best wingers in the comp retire due to being reckless throughout his career.
Bowey isn't fit to lick Daicos' boots clean.Hodge, Voss, Selwood all dumb and reckless in your eyes. One of the silliest things I've read in a decade on bigfooty.
Bowey won't think twice because he's brave. Daicos thinks twice and 3 times. his squibs have been embarassing. he won't even win a hard contest or put his body on the line and to be one of the greatest mids you need to offer something on the inside
He loves contact... but the idea is to get the ball without much contact, to slide through and break lines and set up goals and win premiershipsHe could be as big as Eddie Hall.
If he doesn't like the contact already, not much is going to change, no matter how 'big' he gets.

It's not excuses. What you are doing is using exaggeration to the extreme. Can you put up just 1 example from the GF where he squibbed it? He had the most CP on the ground for us. His goal in the first came from a free kick when he went into a pack and copped a hand around the neck.at least you're not denying it

absolutely agree, he's got to perform at an elite level for a sustained period of time, like the players you mentioned. He's got a long way to go yet. It's hard to really say who is the GOAT in Aussies rules, or let's VFL/AFL history. Too many different roles, different eras etc. How can you compare say, Tony Lockett with Craig Bradley, or Buddy Franklin with Dustin Martin? He is a very good player though and if he improves will probably be remembered as one of the elite mids of the 20s, like top 5 or 10.
As for my own subjective opinion from the eye test he still hasn't reached the heights of Dusty or GAJ, if we're talking recent/current players, and Bud on his day.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love him at Carlton, but if he was at Carlton, I wouldn't be talking up him up in GOAT conversations for a few years yetabsolutely agree, he's got to perform at an elite level for a sustained period of time, like the players you mentioned. He's got a long way to go yet.
Why do you say use 1 example where he squibbed it? Players go 10 years without squibbing a contest, Daicos has done it about 4 or 5 times already which I can happily link you to. Jake bowey has never done it. Squibbing is rare because AFL players are generally very tough and brave. It's not excuses. What you are doing is using exaggeration to the extreme. Can you put up just 1 example from the GF where he squibbed it? He had the most CP on the ground for us. Did he squid it when the Hawthorn player cannoned into him to cause the knee injury?
You describe him as one of the poorest players in the AFL , yet he went close to winning the Brownlow and coaches awards in only his second season. So the gutless keyboard heroes are right, and the coaches, umpires and media are all wrong?
No he is not a hard nut type of player but your understanding of modern football is at the dunce level. Collingwood are coached to set Nick up to get a lot of receives in a game because his greatest strengths are his disposal and decision making. It is smart coaching.
Another player in history that was maligned by the ignorant in a similar fashion was Craig Bradley. I remember a game at the old VFL Park when someone from the crowd yelled out "now I know why you refuse to play cards, Bradley, you're scared of packs " .Everyone laughed, but it was a poor attempt to belittle a genuine top grade player. Not a hard nut, but like Daicos, a player who worked his butt off for his side. The courage to run yourself into the ground takes greater courage than diving into packs.
If you are a genuine squib as you accuse Daicos of being, you would never make it to AFL level. Nobody playing AFL is soft, there are simply degrees of hardness.
Bowey is an excellent player but you can keep him, I'd rather Nick Daicos every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
If he was at Geelong, he'd be lucky to even be mentioned near top 5 of all time at this point let alone any GOAT conversations.Don't get me wrong, I'd love him at Carlton, but if he was at Carlton, I wouldn't be talking up him up in GOAT conversations for a few years yet
Funny thing is it actually happened! My favourite part was when Green picked the ball up and Nicky boy actually ran away from tackling him
God I hope someone makes it a GIFFunny thing is it actually happened!
Been fantastic tonight at avoiding contact and failing to have a go while running away from any form of a physical contest.
On ya Nicky and the tan looks awesome though mate.
