It's a good argument to have. I'm sure the Sydney match committee ummd and ahhd about it. I'm not inherently agreeing or disagreeing with the decision to go a hard-tag on a player.

The examples that King used to demonstrate how a player manipulates stoppages was insightful. It was good footage. I enjoy seeing that. I think it educates us as a fan. It shows that Nick is both a natural footballer and is a well-coached footballer. In his examples though, they weren't all necessarily the fault of Clarke, or Sydney (or the good play of Collingwood), they were circumstances that arose due to the nature of the game. He was implicitly arguing that Clarke should not go for the ball or tackle a player other than Daicos.

King conflates result with action all too often. If he showed that kind of footage without arguing whether it is positive or negative, he would be a much better analyst.

I never mentioned anything about winning the contest my point was that once you commit your best resources to trying to trying to limit a champion you have already lost the contest.

It's a loser's mindset - as a coach you are essentially saying that your squad isn't good enough or your gameplan isn't good enough to win.

If a coach doesn't back his squad and his gameplan he's a limp dck fckr.

He's going excellent for a 20 yo 30 game player it was not a dig at him but they did blunten his overall effectiveness across the whole game.

Putting the shoe on the other foot for the moment, is there a player we have in our squad who would be capable of applying a hard tag on our opponent's best mid or half back?

Used well, I think a close checking player can disrupt and upset a team's rhythm and have a big say in the result. Yesterday's result to me showed how even we are across the board, but also how dynamic we can be with multiple players being able to play multiple positions. If Daicos was purely a half back flanker, the tag might've been more effective. He's not though so Fly was able to throw different looks at Sydney by moving him to half forward and then to the middle of the ground.

If we have an equivalent, I'd love to see the effect that they might have on Carlton if they were to go to Saad in two weeks' time. Carlton to me lacks speed and has suffered losses against Adelaide, St Kilda and Brisbane where Saad either didn't play, or has scored under 80 AFL fantasy points. In the draw against Richmond in round 1 he recorded 62.

Contrast that with 103 against Geelong, 89 against GWS, 85 against North and 86 against West Coast.

And then they had the audacity to whinge about Franklin being booed. Try and physically intimidate a 20 year old but complain when the crowd express their displeasure at 36 year old! Incredible double standards.

McCreery might be the one, given Bruz plays at the other end of the ground. Beau also has the pace to keep up with Saad, who is very good at collecting handball receives and driving Carlton forward from their back half.

His best game this year was against Geelong where, for whatever reason, Voss was prepared to go up the middle of the ground for 3 quarters before reverting to type, eventually squeaking to an 8 point win as Geelong piled on 5 goals or so in the fourth.
