They'd be negligent if they didn't try. They won't want Tassie to be another Suns.
Plenty of other players they will target. I wouldn't be worried about Nick leaving the Pies.

Gary Albert Jnr went to Suns & it didn't work for them.

They'd be better off sticking to ex Tasmanians for the sentimental support.

I dont think he'd go, I think he will be next captain. He and Josh will be one club players.

But the AFL will want Tassie up & running asap, they will target a lot of A grade players, some will go.

He will never leave. Nick and Josh will be one club players.

Don’t jinx it, you never know what the future brings

Here’s a list of players who were at one stage considered to be “One club players”, and it was totally unimaginable that they would leave …

… and then they left. And we moved on.

  • Brodie Grundy - us wanting to offload an AA ruckman, are we nuts?
  • Jack Ginnivan - Premiership player, loves playing for Collingwood.
  • Dayne Beams - Premiership player and Copeland winner
  • Daisy - Premiership player
  • Jayden Stephenson - First player to win a Rising Star playing for Collingwood.
  • Travis Cloke - F/S, Premiership player, Collingwood royalty.
  • Sav Rocca - ROCCAAAA!!!
  • Peter Moore - Collingwood Brownlow medalist

If that’s the case then they won’t pull the same BS on us they did to Geelong with Ablett jr.

Regardless, Nick and Josh will both be one club players. Their dad is big on being a one club champion and he has a heavy influence on the boys.

I don't think any of these players are comparable - Ginnivan and Stephenson being listed gave me a hearty chuckle

With the benefit of hindsight looking back? Of course.

But not at the time - we have short memories.

Ginnivan - his 2022 season came within a goal of winning the Coventry medal as a small forward, in a forward line that had been struggling for years. In only his 10th game of AFL footy he kicked 5 goals to win the ANZAC medal and (even more importantly) put Kane Cornes back in his box. Back then it was unimaginable that he would leave.

Stephenson - We paid a hefty price for him - pick 6 in the ND. (Only Pendles and Degoey in our team at the time had been higher). But he delivered - he was the most emphatic rising star winner ever at the time and kicked 38 goals in his debut season, giving the Coventry medal a real shake. He signed a long term deal and it was unimaginable he would ever leave. He could do no wrong …

… until he did. He never recovered from his betting scandal, and after reaching lofty heights he’s been on a downward spiral ever since.

except none of them have Peter daicos as a father. He’s already advised his sons to leave something on the table at contract negotiations, so as long as the club is fair (and don’t see why they wouldn’t be) I don’t see them chasing money. And Peter isn’t just a passed player and fan he’s a total collingwood nuffie and his sons seem to have inherited the passion.

So as long as players and club stay on good terms, and there’s no reason to think that they wouldn’t, I don’t see them ever leaving.

Yeah, I’d imagine that Peter Daicos has been looked after in his life far far more than any payrise going to another club would have given him.

And Peter looks like a decent bloke who people would have been happy to look after …

…. in an industry that must be full of total ****wits who go off the rails after footy.

Plus Peter would know that it’s counter productive doing a Chris Judd and raiding the kitty and leaving nothing behind for the rest of the squad.

I think Peter Moore regrets leaving Collingwood when he did.
The club was in turmoil at the time, and Melbourne offered him big bucks.
I'm sure his advice to Darcy would be to stay a one club player.

A lot of kids aren't that interested in their dad's opinion - the little ****ers. Darcy won't leave now, but supposedly nearly did earlier in his career.

Beams too. There was always quiet murmurs about him potentially going back to qld despite the fact he bypassed going to GC as a foundation player and opted for the open draft.
