Autopsy NM v West Coast - the great choke!

I found that loss as frustrating as anyone but the whole 'the sky is falling' feel around here is a huge overreaction.

The underlying stats tell the story - we were easily the better team and if not for some really poor moments from guys like Lmac, Simpkin and Xerri, we should have won that comfortably.

It's going to be ok.

It’s actually a poetic tragedy how disappointing this club continues to be. Watching this organisation since 1999 has been a slowly unfolding “Paradise Lost”.
LOL all I can say about today’s game to finish 17th again shows this club hasn’t improved now we have 2 games left time to throw the kids in show what they have as this club has been embarrassed again.
Don’t want to hear about little wins stop the smoke screen bull💩 start talking some hard truths about our players who are not up to it.

I love Charlie Comben . Love the way he plays and I love his passion , having said that … he will learn a lot today (hopefully) he made a handful of decisions that cost goals . There’s a time to intercept mark and a time to put your fist through the ball and put it into the 10th row , an over the back Oscar Allen mark and goal in the 3rd quarter where Charlie got caught ball watching and by the time he got on his bike to get back it was too late , also when you are punching the ball out of the danger zone (not a mark) punch it boundary side and not back into the corridor . All that said if he can tidy a couple of things up & get another 40 games under his belt he could become an Elitr defender .

That should have been a comfortable 5-8 goal win against a very poor West Coast but unfortunately we still really only have 2- Max 3 good quarters of footy in us regardless of who we are playing.

As soon as sheezel got injured and with wardlaw out I felt it was going to be a struggle with one too many mediocre footballers running around out there (pink mcdonald etc).

There's definite improvement there, we just simply can't put a 4 quarter performance together at this stage.

Would like to see us line up without Larkey for a couple of matches. I have a feeling we are similar to Buddy at Hawthorn near the end, to one dimensional, with a far inferior player.

I’d have him drop Lmac from the captaincy because he’s one of the worst offenders, and get games on merit (instead of the feelgood brigade voting him in)

Our forward line entries have not improved whatsoever all year. And yep, I’m asking what he’s doing about it. Sitting there slurring “ums” and “uhs” after the latest loss blowing smoke up the oppos’ arse isn’t what we paid a million/year for.

We, the list and Clarko are treading water until the U23’s mature into dominant players. The core is there but unless there’s another dozen at VFL on that age bracket, we’re treading water until they emerge.

The best he can do is pour the energy into teaching the elite group to be better and that’s going to be another 2 years which effectively puts him at the end of his tenure. Unfortunately he might be a Bolton or Buckley who does the hard years and another Coach picks up the gig

We always do well on the stat sheet, but it doesn’t translate into wins , it’s like we are going against the trend. Very confusing.

Part of me think there are footy gods and this is some sick pisstake by them and they just enjoying heckin'g with some clubs over others. Us and the Saints in particular.

All up there on their clouds, just sitting and rolling around in laughter at us.

So you’d have him drop half today’s squad?

In some cases it’s centimetres, in others metres or worse at shots on goal; offensively and defensively it’s been a mess for years.
Who do you bring in. Lazzaro? Greenwood? Drury? I don't see much there helping the skill level.

Reid apart from that mark was embarrassing today. Reminded me of JHF at the end with us

But today I’d have preferred an embarrassing first pick and a team to be proud of… Instead, we got the opposite - Colby had a great game but our whole team was embarrassing.

I’m sure WC fans are crying tonight about how much better Colby was today.

Well, think that’s going to far
I agree. Im not going to bag out a kid who has played 10 games.
I will hold this loss to anyone over 25 years of age who played and could at least use their voice to tell the idiots what should be done. Besides Sheil who has had success our older guys only know a crazy chaotic losing brand.

Yep. At the end of the day we haven't improved past any other clubs where it matters

Look at the wins

11.8 to 8.17.65 - 6 less scoring shots
13.9.87 to 12.11.83 - 1 less scoring shot and against a side that hasn't won away from home all year
14.6.90 to 10.17.77 - 7 less scoring shots.

And yes I get that one could argue we could also have 5 wins with the games against Collingwood and Melbourne

Must capitalise on scoring opportunities. At half time, should have been 40 points up
The set up forward of the ball makes this an impossibility.

It’s an absolute shit show.

He’s a defender that hasn’t learnt to be defensive.

Someone needs to tell him that you can’t mark everything and sometimes you need to punch.
He's a forward who can crash a pack and take contested mark and been played down back to get him games and that's that. Yeah he intercepts great but he will never be a defender as his instincts is all forward craft, you seen it when he played Day or any player one on one, he thinks he is going for the mark and goal instead of spoil - you can play Larkey in defense and you'll get the same result...great marking tall but defense is not their primary instincts.
Bang! This is Rawling’s List. Interesting what the apologists have to say about this. :stern look
This has got nothing to do with Rawlings anymore!! This is about the f@#king players who seemed to switch off when the lead was out to 35 instead of pressing down on the throat, we got cute, we played sloppy, played too far in front of the ball and simply allowed them to comeback!!
This is down to Clarkson and his coaching and the so-called 25yo's who wants to play in a GF and on long contracts, start demand more from each other...blind kicks at stoppage, lackidasical kicks to player that goes OB for a Allen goal..thats the shit that has to stop!

This should have been a 50pt+ win, l've been patient for 5 years but games after the bye have proved that when this team plays and concentrate, they take on the persona of team that looks like it's about to tear a new one against the oppo. What made it worst is, WE SHOULD HAVE F@#KING CANED THE PANTS OUT OF THOSE C#$TS.

If there was anything to take away from this year in terms of progress, it was this game and the chance to finished above WCE....I need a break before this keyboard gets rammed through this monitor...so pissed at this loss!!

Decisions made by players were very costly and most by our senior and better players.
Lmacs and jys **** ups have been documented
Chom and sheez both just haphazardly spiked the ball forward when they had time to grab it - they might of got tackled but a ball up would of happened
Every level of footy you know grab the footy and not just pinch it forward or out of a pack

Like we were trying to play serge footy with no runners.

some really bizarre choices.

Comben’s punch was just complete panic.

A hallmark of being surrounded by panic merchants.

We had enough opportunities. Shit show or not. Whatever they were doing gave opportunities to be 40+ up at half time.

Lets not also divert from the fact the team is young and the year has been long.

Plus we have Luke McDonald

Exactly my point

We’re filling gaps until we get the Core 2022-2025 group into the 80-150 game bracket
