Crocks seems to have a game plan, retaining possession and working through the corridor. I think it worked well against Gold Coast and pretty well against Melbourne. For it to work better we need better control on the half forward line and better delivery to the players in the forward 50.

I appreciate that he likes to play a positive game style but I think that’s been tried for a couple of seasons and fallen short. Time to address it. Aside from that I think he seems popular amongst the girls and has kept the nucleus of the group together. I think he’s done a good job.

I haven't been Abbey Holmes's biggest fan, but comparing her and Al Nicholson with the dross Underwood et al gave us yesterday is chalk and cheese. For starters they seem to know the name of every player!

Crocks does need replacing just not sure with who? maybe Boomer if he's available..
Don't think we know enough about Boomer's coaching chops yet. I don't know enough about successful W coaches at other levels to propose any names there.
Would also love to see what a highly regarded assistant at AFL level could do, eg Leppitsch. Pie in the sky I'm sure with the difference in $$$. Is there a soft cap in AFLW?

WOW, we’ve lost to last years two Grand Finalists a couple of months after turning over a third of our playing list and people are calling for the coaches head. Surely now we need a little stability or have you forgotten what has happened with our mens team over the few years.

It’s time for calm heads not idiotic calls.

Seasons slowly falling away again.
Hopefully we can pull things into focus and win next week.

wright continues to be a liability, all the momentum at the start and she accidently kicks it out on the full and gives away a 50m penalty goal

got the crows back in it and the rest was history
Why don't you go swim in the sewers.

?

was it not wright that made that mistake that turned momentum?
Yes, Wright kicked it out, but the boundary umpire made the first mistake by calling it out on the full when the point of the ball never left the ground, then the other umpire compounded that mistake by awarding 50 when Wright dropped the ball on the ground (I'm assuming) for the boundary umpire, watching the highlights it looked around the same the whistle was blown. Wright's mistake was she picked up the ball when she should have left it on the ground.

Also, the umpire missed a throw from the Adelaide player before the ball came to Wright, so there were about 4 or 5 mistakes in that little piece of play and you pick out one that fits your small minded narrative, it's time to stop blaming Wright for everything, she is one of our most reliable defenders and one of our cleanest users of the ball.

As for turning momentum, it was early in the second quarter and the game remained a slog for the next two quarters before Adelaide took control in the fourth.

I think having a player less on the interchange bench for more than a half had a bigger effect than the Wright mistake. I don't have any evidence for this but from the few instances I have seen over the last few seasons, losing a player off the bench has a bigger impact on the performance of players in the Women's game than the Men's, I'm assuming that it may have something to do the level of fitness in the Women's game which isn't at the level of the Men's game at this stage, along with two less players on a field which is roughly the same size as the Men's game.

Finally, once again you failed to mention all the other mistakes like Riddell kicking into the player on the mark, Emma King slipping when the forward line was open, Kearney missing an easy tackle. All 21 players made mistakes on the weekend it's part of the game, but to continue to pick out one player is petty and pathetic.

It was muscle memory, as you are required to drop the ball when there is a boundary throw in, and the umpire could just as easily have let it go in this instance.
During the third quarter a crows player moved off the mark when a Tahlia Randall faked a handball to a team mate after she took a grab inside 50. Should have been 50 metre penalty to us and a certain goal, but the umps decided to be lenient at the time.

Would have made far more sense to be lenient towards Wright and punish the crows player, because one affected the flow of the play and the other didn't.

Of course, if they are going to pay one they should have paid both. But since they decided to pick and choose they chose the wrong one to be pedantic about in my opinion.

I agree in principle with what you are saying and certainly my extremely one-eyed self screamed blue murder over both decisions. However, the AFL did make the midseason decision and directed umpires to stop penalising players for moving off the mark if the player with the ball faked a handball to draw a 50. That is likely what the umpire decided Tahlia was doing. It could have gone either way, just as the Wright 50 could have been waved away. Umpires sometimes let players hand the ball back to the wrong player and sometimes let them return the ball on the bounce. It should be black and white but they often allow latitude and usually when it's against us. campaigners.

Match Review for this week.

Find it a little interesting the MRO reviewed the Kearney's tackle on Marinoff to be as serious as Button's sling tackle on Kearney. I don't think Kearney's was all that dangerous, yet Button's had the potential to cause a concussion or perhaps worse.

Also found it interesting that Marinoff didn't have a case to answer for kicking Amy Smith in the head, even though it was during play there has to a duty of care, after all the head is supposed to be sacrosanct, or so we are lead to believe. I think the fact that after kicking Smith she continued on and didn't look behind to the see how Amy was doing was pretty grubby as well.

Didn't Kearney have to leave the field under the blood rule after that tackle ? low impact, sounds legit

Yes, she was bleeding, I'm not sure if it was from her mouth or from a lip. I think she said in trying to protect herself her head smashed into her hand/fist.

If you are going to talk about momentum sapping call out the idiot umpires that called blood rule with the ball in play and controlled by us, only to restart it with a bounce!

And the insane amount of throws and dropping the ball the Crows got away with.

The first picture shows a clear in the back free kick to Wright and the next two show a great tackle by Ferguson and a clear throw. The third pic also shows the field umpire looking straight at the aforementioned throw and no free kick called.

Then you have a dickhead of a boundary umpire calling out on the full from close to 10 metres away when the ball never left the ground. And the field umpire was close enough that she should have overruled him because she had a much better view of it.

The fact that a certain moron would rather call out Wright instead of the umpires says a lot about him.

No she dropped the ball as she turned to stand the mark, she knew it was out on the full. But yes they missed the Crow throw as well.

Except it wasn’t on the full. The ball never leaves the ground.

They didn’t just miss the throw, they ignored the throw. It should have been our ball.

So we've only beaten a side that's bas been smashed 3 games in a row. Lost 2 others in somewhat close games.
Hope the season picks up..

What a load of crap, the ball rolled across the boundary line before she picked it up and when she heard the whistle probably thought it was for a throw in and dropped the ball on the line for the boundary umpire. It was a gross over reaction by an umpire who shouldn't be umpiring at AFLW level.

I'm assuming that because the AFLW is still semi-professional that the umpires were from South Australia, if that is the case then it explains some of the decisions. You see hometown bias in other National competitions as well.

I find it interesting that two Melbourne players (Ivey and Harris) were suspended this week with the Dees to play Brisbane this weekend. Perhaps the AFLW have abandoned operation "Get Daisy her Premiership" which has been priority 1 for the last few years as the Dees have no chance against the Lions this season. Does anyone?

It's a shame they didn't come to this realisation a few weeks ago.
