That was it! I had ole mate boomer roo on ignore.The only person I had on ignore for some reason. I think for certain posts, as mentioned above game day threads etc if ignoring someone results in the entire thread being hidden then it should be 'taken over' by a mod.

I think this is something we can look at covering in the season. In the interim, if you don’t remember why you put him on ignore it might be time to forgive and embrace the high quality BoomerRoo content available.

A mate of mine actually did the engineering assessment a few years back. Not a sales pitch, they don’t actually install, and the club kept asking for discounts on stuff they don’t sell….

On a side note “Game day thread” should be all under Moderators names. I know the old fellas around here have the self gratitude of creating one first, thats all good but can a moderator then take ownership as soon as they view the board?

I agree; it’s past my bedtime making GD threads at 12:00:01am; hence I think I did 2 last season and someone else took over the mantle regularly. I will tag them shortly for their pov. It was fun for a while back a decade ago until the Fun Police arrived with their whinge lights blaring.

Twinkletoes and goalieboy82 were there creating GD threads as well. And a couple of other folks. One thing I know is that the GD threads started off being full of hope and with a bit of semi-decent banter but by half time in the actual game they had usually descended into the weekly sh!t show and autopsy threads were being created in a completely undisciplined manner.

I like a bit of fun, I can handle some roughhouse banter and I agree that we have to be honest when discussing games, win lose or draw, but I do think that the stirring campaigner attitudes need to be reigned in a bit, especially when it gets personal (including towards players, club people and other big footy people). Some of the stuff had me thinking that I wouldn't bother starting another GD thread.

But if I checked and saw that nobody had spun one up then somehow I would change my mind. I'm guessing danj and Twinkletoes were doing the same. After all, it's a bad look if nobody actually bothers to create a game day thread. Very bad indeed!

I don't think I have really addressed your main point Gasometer but I felt like I needed to say something.

Anyway, if anybody checks and sees that there isn't a GD thread and it's after midnight on game day then it's like they are standing 50 out with the free kick and the siren is sounding. They can't pass it off. They have to take the shot themselves. And they have to make a decent effort too.

That’s exactly what I’d do on occasion. It should be poster driven rather than mods so I was waiting to see if anyone started it. If not then I’d quickly whip one up prior to bed.

With my little bloke changing schools this year with Saturday morning sport included that may be too difficult for me.

Anyone on post midnight can fire one up. The critiques of the OP shouldn’t occur as the point is that there’s a Gameday thread up, mentioning who we’re playing and the round, with the appropriate Gameday prefix attached.

It’s much simpler though if the thread is started by someone unlikely to be on ignore by anyone else.
