So thats a 3-0 loss to NZ in their home conditions and now a 3-1 loss to an ageing but still pretty good home team in Australia. India are struggling badly but with their talent at their disposal they should recover quickly once they move on the ageing stars. Be interesting to see what changes they make against England in England in 6 months time.
Heard Gavaskar on the radio today regretting that there’s such a long break before the next tests that underperformers from the last two series will probably survive.

Them's the breaks.

We had a paralytic Starc.
Indeed it's test cricket and bad luck for India, I just felt robbed of a better spectacle as a fan is all. Reminded me of the Steve Waugh era where you just knew we were going to win (and for 16 tests in a row we did).

On Stark: probably shouldn't have been picked. Something about Sydney and picking underdone guys though...

Anyone got any suggestions of what to do in Sydney now I have spare time?
Go to the beach. Whatever you do don't stay at the SCG to celebrate the Australian win. The stands were mostly empty during the presentation ceremony. Difference between Sydney and Melbourne. Fans at MCG would have been rocking and celebrating.

How about a nice Biryani at one of the nearby indian restaurants? I think you'd get a warm reception there, and maybe a celebratory mango lassi complements of Australia's magnificent BGT victory.

So pat's now got every test-based trophy in the cabinet? Couple of world cup victories?

He's literally won or retained every trophy available to him since becoming captain.

Ashes ✅
Border-Gavaskar ✅
ICC Test Championship ✅
ODI World Cup ✅
Trans-Tasman Trophy ✅
Frank Worrell Trophy ✅
Benaud-Qadir Trophy ✅
Warne-Murali Trophy ✅
Whatever trophy us and the Saffers play for ✅

But yeah, hit the bricks Captain Woke :crossmark: :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

And honestly has he had the quality of players available to him that previous great eras of cricket had?

Couple of things... I started watching the cricket on channel 7 today just because the tv was already on when I came in to watch. Ricky Ponting was part of the commentary team so I didn't bother turning the tv over to pay TV until...

FFS channel 7. GAGF.

The other thing: What's the joke about Scott Boland being the father of India. I appreciate it is a sledge that is intended to cause irritation but where does it come from?

You can only beat what's in front of you.
And that's seriously understating the Indian side from this series.

Jaiswal has put together one of the most prolific years ever in 2024.

Kohli a modern day great.

Bumrah the best bowler in the world.

Jadeja has 300+ wickets at 24 and averages 35 with the bat.

Pant probably the best keeper batsman in the world.

Siraj is an excellent bowler anywhere but India.

There's some serious quality in the Indian opposition from this series and some will go down as greats.

Really? He’s had the best bowlers of any captain before him? Wow thats a massive call
As a unit, for sure.

Cummins every bit as good as McGrath, and I never used to rate Cummins. The only difference between them is their record on the subcontinent.

Hazelwood is a better bowler than Gillespie.

Their strike bowler in Starc is much better than Brett Lee.

Backups like Boland, Richardson are heaps better than backups like Kasprowicz.

Warne was the only player who was comfortably better than today's version.

I never used to rate these blokes but I've had to eat sweet humble pie in the past few years.

Bowling wise, better than any other captain before him. But obviously he contributes to that as well.

Respectfully disagree.

Steve Waugh inherited the most stacked Australian national team when he took the reigns from Tubby.

Look at the bowling attack Waugh took to his first Ashes as Captain, by way of an example;

Shane Warne
Glenn McGrath
Brett Lee
Jason Gillespie
Damien Fleming

That's a murderers row of all-time great Australian bowlers right there.

I dunno about that. Its hard to compare but we've had some immense bowling attacks over the last 50 years.

Look at the bowling attack Waugh took to his first Ashes as Captain, by way of an example;

Shane Warne > Lyon
Glenn McGrath >= Cummins
Brett Lee < Starc
Jason Gillespie < Hazelwood
Damien Fleming < Boland

All good to disagree! This is where I place them above.
