LANCE: I've pretty well always been keen to see Lance come next year, but reading papers and hearing things it seems too many other clubs are after him and now for us has priced himself out of the market. Therefore I don't see him coming to the Dogs in 2006.

FEVOLA: And unless Carlton paid $300,000 of that $1,500,000 - to bring it down to $400,000 a year, Fevola would be too much.

Macdougall: has the heart the size of a pea.

Polak: Freo want too much.

Jason Cloke: Hahahahahaha. NO!

RIVERS: Not going anywhere

Petire: Roos need him.

Only leaving Watts and Thurstans - Both not setting the world alight.

And guys like Urch, Bizzell & Sddington we dont need.

If we're looking to trade for a KPP we should not hold out breath.

Ideally we wouldn't have to trade if Rawlings, Bowden and Walsh all stpped up. With Williams and Darcy not injured, if 2 of the 3 can stand up in 2006 we wouldn't have to trade.

But if those are the KPP trades, it seems we might have to overpay to get someone - NOT GOING TO HAPPEN - or the club looks to other sorts of players to trade.

With Eade saying we're going to be active in trade week, what do you think we will target and what sorts of players and names if any. I'm racking my brain and not seeing any trades that will dramatically imrpove our list like Rodney wants.

Some people believe we're only going after a KPP in the Trading Period. Something tell me that's not the case, and that Eade is looking to pick up 2 or 3 players to improve our list. Obviously, a CHF/FF is his main focus. I think he's also looking for a couple players to fill a void in the backline so that it frees McMahon up, and maybe a few others. I dont think Eade has much faith in Morgan, TBH. What he's said of him hasn't been all too positive, and more or less, It'd seem that Eade is on the lookout for another backmen of some sorts. Which by all means - I stand 100% behind him. We definitely need another good backmen regardless if Williams steps up to the plate or not.

Out of the list that has been mentioned, I really only like the sound of Fevola and Polak. Polak would be a huge bonus to our Backline. Same goes for Fevola. He'd be a massive boost to the Forward Line, but as we all know, we'd have to pay an incredible amount to get them. And besides - it seems unlikely Fremantle and Carlton would palm them off anyway. However, I do think we're 2 players short of possibly playing off in a Grand Final. Despite being ranked #1 In Attack this year, Fevola at FF would no doubt kick 60+ Goals. He's had a poor year at carlton, but lets face it, he gets limitied opportunities. Does ANYONE have ANY sort of idea, or opinion, as to what you would think we'd have to give up to get him?

Polak too, would be very expensive. Some clouds over his attitude and such, but he's a solid backmen and he'd fill an important role at CHB for us. If we had Fevola and Polak in our side next year, I think we'd have the best chance of bringin' home the Premiership Cup in late September. But of course - we aren't gonna get both, IF even one of them.

I can't really think of any other names ... I guess we'll have to wait and see.

When's the Trade Week begin?
[In Your Opinion] What Would Carlton Be Asking For Fevola?
[In Your Opinion] What Would Fremantle Be Asking For Polak?

This was done to death before our winning streak, when it looked like our season was going to peter away.

FWIW, and my opinion only, the 2 best fit players we should be targeting are Chris Tarrant and Drew Petrie. We desperately need a mobile CHF with a big engine who can run their opponents ragged, getting to contest after contest, but also with an ability to take contested marks and also kick 40-50 goals a year consistently. Darcy as the monster in the goal square and one of Walsh, Wells or Tiller next to him as a leading target. The remaining 3 spots up forward taken up by a combination of Bobby, Coons, Robbo, Johnno. Looks potent on paper.

What to part with to get either of them to our club is another story altogether, for another time.

If there is a cheap as chips option, I personally like Ted Richards. Not many people here share my enthusiasm, but I think he can offer much more at the kennel than he ever will at Essenson, where he will always be behind Lloyd, Lucas, Fletcher and Bradley in the KP pecking order. Won't be a world beater by any stretch but has some tools, and has good form down back for Essendon the last few weeks in Fletcher's absence.

I'd personally be loathe to cast the net any wider than that. Perhaps Watts might be worth looking at if he wants to come home. Again, the price factor in getting an untried player over should be considered, as Adelaide will want a return on their 2 year investment.

I should preface what I've just written by suggesting that Rawlings would have to be somehow off-loaded in order for one of Tarrant or Petrie (or even Polak as alluded to by Bulldogs Bite) to become affordable under our cap. Remember we have a young list playing good football, so a natural increase in their collective salaries needs to be accounted for now.

Mabye Hansen from West Coast he said he wants to come to a Victorian team and his had a bad season but if not him id say Whittnall

i wouldnt want J.Cloke he cant kick i wouldnt want J.Cloke if he was the last player in the AFL Rivers no get a guy who plays in the forward line

Trade week is first week of October I think (Could be 2nd)

Carlton after 2 x 1st rounders and asking other to cop $500,000 a year

Freo would be after 1st and 2nd round picks and perhaps a Sam Power.

One that has slipped my mind for 10 weeks is Ted Richards. Has put some good games together down back, his value has risen only slightly. Perhaps Brad Murphy could be a stright swap, or chuck in K-Mac to even it up?

I agree it was done to death - i think i was behind most of it...

I agree on Petrie on Tarrant, but they're not going anywhere. Not at a price we will pay.

I agree Watts is a huge risk. Perhaps not worth looking at because Adealiade will want too much.

I agree on Richards too. Perhaps this is our man? Brad Murphy?

i think one good KPP pickup and one speculative acquistion will be enough for us. we get darcy back next year, and with any luck williams will get a few games at the end of the year, or at least lay a platform for 2007.

if we were able to pick up either tarrant, whitnall, petrie, polak, fevola + any of mcdougall, richards, hanson, cloke, watts then we would be more than satisfied. then we would have a FF + Darcy + another player who can at least contribute and hold down a position.

no need to go overboard. only take whats there, there are a lot of talls in this years draft, perhaps pick up one of these for the future and our stocks for the future will be satisfied.

Without disagreeing with your comment about the need for another backman, I'm not sure the Eade criticism of Morgan was as general as it has been portrayed. I only heard him once talk about Morgan in a negative way and it was a very clearly targeted shot at what he didn't get done preseason and how it came home to haunt him with injuries. My overall impression is that the club expect a very big 2006 from Morgan.

Has anyone considered KPP prospects out of Sydney? We'd be more likely to land them with Rodney knowing most of them. What about an O'Keefe?

Surely we have learnt from our mistakes, Rawlings should of been Bradley, Koops should of been Mundy. Had we not sold out we would be right for key backman.

Early draft picks are very valuable and shouldn't be traded away lightly, I would rather hold on to the early picks and try to trade for a KPP with later picks or in the PSD.

Fevola, Tarrant etc we would pay an inflated price and I fear yet again be left with egg on our face.

If Jason Cloke comes to us as a player, I will personally burn down the Whitten and Gent stands and Rodney Eade's house ;) . Anyone who has seen him play, especially last Friday night, would realise that out of the 600-odd players currently on senior AFL lists, he would rank 5,345785th.

Very good player but not what we need. Too short for KP. Also very much a required player at Sydney I'd suspect.

Why are people even naming J.Cloke. He is 189cm and is not a true Key position player. He has only been playing full forward/chf/ruck because T.Cloke, Tarrant, Rocca, Fraser, C.Cloke, Richards and even Fanning are all out. J.Cloke is an ok 'fix-it' kind of player and gives a contest but he will never be the prime target or be able to consistantly quell a player who's name isn't Lance Whitnall, Aaron Hamill, Wayne Carey (Adelaide's version) or Brett Guerra. Although he did probably take the points against Harris at full forward in round 22 somehow  .

It's strange. Jason Cloke looked like he'd be a great Backmen in his first eyar, or second - which ever one it was where he was playing real good footy. What happened to him? He looks a COMPLETELY different player with not a single thing to praise about him anymore :-/
