Search for the new coach is on.

Nowhere did I say it was a bad appointment. He just didn't move the mountains like some make out imo. He took you from what, 17th to 13th to 9th? Pretty standard for a rebuilding club (who had already been rebuilding for a few years), no?

He could not have made you any worse, as I said all he had to do was not be Mark Neeld and you were going to improve. He was 1 of 3 people to help choose the next coach (Viney & Jackson the other 2). Once again, not a bad impact on the club but an overrated one.

How are they remotely similar? After we sacked Ratten we had narrowly missed the finals and finished 5th the year before. When you hired Paul Roos you were rock bottom.

Btw, I reckon if Carlton signed Roos it probably would've been the same outcome - overrate our list, implement a defensive gameplan that didn't suit the players, trade out a few and not play finals. Maybe he wouldn't have turned us into the worst and oldest list in the comp, but we wouldn't have had success imo.
How on earth was our list overrated? It wasn’t even rated. We were hopeless. Are you even reading what you’re writing? ‘A defensive gameplan’ - we didn’t have a defence before Roos! We got belted regularly by massive amounts. Essendon beat us by 150 one year in round 2. Probably 2013. How do you say that a defensive game plan doesn’t suit the players? You don’t put in a game plan to suit the players, you put in a game plan that is going to improve your defence! Roos knew what he was doing. The players that couldn’t adapt were shifted.

If you look at every successful side they have an amazing defence. It’s no surprise Geelong is where they are when they have Stewart (probably the best player in the AFL) playing CHB and you’ve got Weitering who is on track to be a Carlton and AFL great.

You criticise a guy that did all the things we needed him to do yet you say it would have happened anyway?

This is astonishing stuff….I am staggered by your naivety.

Amarfio the next head to roll?

Left a very, very poor impression on some employees when he was at Cricket Australia. For anyone who wants to know what sort of operator he is, read Geoff Lemon’s book Steve Smith’s Men.

The part about his bizarre relationship with James Brayshaw stinks to high heaven when you consider the latter’s previous role with North.

Mate, you are not comprehending very well. I was talking about Carltons situation. You were saying Carlton would've been desperate for someone like Roos, but instead opted for a 'big name' in MM (is Roos not a big name btw?).

IF Carlton hired Roos, it would've been the same result for us as it was when we hired MM. We would've given him the keys to the kingdom, overrated our list, implemented a defensive game plan that minimized the players strengths (like MM did) and turn us into a bog average team.

The situations aren't remotely apples and apples anyway, and not sure why you needed to bring Carlton into it.

is it true he was never an assistant coach but instead did other s**t? if true why hire a guy like that?

It's the classic "But look it worked somewhere else".

He would be clinically insane to prefer North over Brisbane (or anyone, for that matter)
If he wants to stay in melbs and we commit to him makes sense to me

We nearly beat your mob on the weekend now with a better coach and better game things hopefully back on track

I can't see why. Player development at Arden St has been very average the last few years, the team has 6 wins over the last two seasons, coaches have changed frequently the last few years, list management has been quite poor (putting it nicely), and there are constant questions of relocation (however valid or invalid).

There's more to list, but in essence, the story at North is uncertainty and instability. Not the kind of environment you want to go in as a young top talent.

You did nearly beat us, for sure. Your boys played out of their skin. But that was what, the 3rd good performance of the 16 games played?
