How did konstas go in his last innings ?
His first innings was special, he threw Bumrah out who was devouring Aussie wickets like 10 c candy & that was very important.
Not sure what else he has done.

I hope he doesn't make it to Sri lanka unless he can adjust his temprement in Sheffield shield.

Otherwise he is not ready for test cricket.

He doesn’t bat like this in shield cricket, at all.

Fantastic series… thought we were going to get our pants pulled down after India smashed us in Perth.
Had Bumrah been fit today, I believe the BG trophy would still be in the Sub-Continent.
We will never know for sure and that's good enough for me..

Unfortunately they fly out for Sri Lanka before the Shield restarts. First Test is in 24 days from now.

It's quite amazing that two journeymen cricketers from the Sheffield Sheild competition could be probably our two most important players in the deciding test of the BGT.

Boland had played successfully at test level previously and he didn't miss a beat in the tests he played after replacing Hazelwood.

Webster was a revelation on his test debut. Did everything very well and for mine was the most technically correct batsman in the match. He also scored at a very good rate as well.

Both Boland and Webster have kicked the selection door down and deserve their place in the side going forward. It should now be up to Hazelwood to force Boland out of the side and an all-rounder to force Webster out of the side if they can. Competition for places in the team is healthy.

Reading way too much into it. He had a license to play T20 today and see what happened. He still ended up over 20 so it wasn't a complete waste. The shot he was out on wasn't a great look, but no chance he keeps playing like that. Just a combination of time and place today.

Cummins giving a strong hint that he won't be on the Sri Lankan tour.

Wouldn’t be surprised if none of the three NSW quicks are there tbh.

Hazlewood might need more time and Starc might need a bit more time to get to 100%.

Convenient that Boland is bowling well and we’ll likely play two spinners anyway.

Who is our spinning depth? Lyon is great, but getting towards the end (surely!) and I reckon I could tink Zampa the spud. Any chance Ashton Agar gets another shot? Or is he too West Aussie-ish?

He was the top scorer at the SCG out of the top 4 batsmen from both sides on a green top. And 3rd overall behind Pant (who also throws caution to the wind) and Webster.

Say what you will about the way he goes about it, but end of the day results are all that matter.

Konstas scored 45 total runs. Khawaja 43, Labuschagne 8, Smith 37, Jaiswal 32, Rahul 17, Gill 33, Kohli 23.

Cricket Australia have pulled Todd Murphy and Matt Kuhnemann out of the BBL. Rochicholli doesn’t have a BBL team but be in the mix as well. It’ll be the first two or all three on the plane to Sri Lanka.

No chance Zampa and Agar play test cricket again. They aren’t in their state team’s first XI.

Reasonably comfortable with those spinners tbh. They won’t look any good in Australia but tbh an average spinner is better than a world class pace bowler in Sri Lanka.

Aged well from the numbskull Gerard

Yet another example of a really irritating recent trend in Australian sports media where journalists and personalities that never actually played any of these sports at the highest level are offering opinions and telling us in detail on “feature” pieces where all these teams are going wrong.

If Ricky Ponting or Steve Waugh write an article saying Australian cricket is in crisis, I’ll stop and read it.

Gerard Whateley or tom Morris never took a wicket or scored a run for Australia so why the hell do we care what either of them thinks.

Same applies in footy season.
Tom Morris shouting his opinions out over Jimmy Bartel and Leigh Matthews on his footy show? Give me a spell 😳

Gerard, Tom, Damian Barrett, Andy Maher, Sam McClure, Jon Ralph - your opinions carry as much meaning as a random poster on big footy. STFU and report the news, and leave the opinions to people that were actually in the game at some form at the top level.
