Interesting 3 way trade being touted by a few outlets. Essentially:

North get pick 2 (effectively 3) from Eagles and a player from Port, lose JHF

Eagles lose pick 2 and Rioli, gain pick 8 and a future 1st.

Port gain JHF and Rioli, lose 8, a future 1st and an undisclosed player.

Can see merits but feel it's a little light on from the Eagles perspective.
Already shut down by Eagles who rightly want a lot more

Not enough for West Coast.

I’m gobsmacked.

Dodo can lay down his cards.

Geelong are already the clear winners of trade week 2023 … and it’s only just begun. Two top 10 players into the club with nothing going back the other way.

All you need is unlimited cash. And a good business relationship with the Suns who can only be described as completely incompetent to have painted themselves into such a corner.

Geelong are avoiding the much anticipated cliff … with a big “up yours” to the rest of the comp.

Utterly gobsmacked.
Not sure abut how accurate it is, but I read somewhere that GC are supposedly paying Ben Long $600k (alongside gigantic contracts for Brayden Fiorini and Rory Atkins). Nice club to have a 'good business relationship' with, there to help out with a dodgy salary cap dump when they're in need.

That can’t be true.

To be fair that was only supposed to be a one year deal. An administrative error resulted in the contract term being entered as ‘Long’. Bit of back and forth between the player’s lawyer and the club but after formally changing his name to ‘Ben One Year’, and arguing that was the name he was always known by, it looks like he’s going to be able to hold them to it until he chooses to retire.

I had no idea that Luke Jackson was from the House of Habsburg.

He looks about as doofy as he sounds. Seems like a lovely bloke but not overly burdened with brain cells.
If he's as I suspect is descended from the Habsburgs the latter is understandable.

Am I the only one that thinks JHF didn’t deserve a 6-year contract at this stage? He’s been a very underwhelming pick 1 so far. He might make it, but usually you see something from them with a wow factor & I can’t recall a single thing. I know Norf sucked, but it should be easier for the good ones to stand out, like Simpkin & Larkey

I loved Cornes trying to justify it now its Port doing it but outside of Weitering and Walsh what other #1 pick would have been worth a 6 year deal and for the last 15 years you'll struggle to make a case for any of them

Imagine what Matt Rowell could be doing if his body had stayed right. Bloke was scary good.

I thought he played some cracking games early, very hard at it and classy but certainly dropped off through the year.

Remember being seriously impressed with his game vs Geelong R6. Just looked up his stats; 19 possessions, 13 contested, 8 clearances, 4 tackles in 72% game time.

They're great numbers for a teenager playing career game 6 for the bottom team against the dominant team in the comp.

Likely Port have locked him in at unders due to Jhf being desperate to get out of North. Good buying imho. If he gets fit and plays well they have a bargain.

Ratten gone
They will come for Bevo big time at the end of 2023
Should be interesting

Why would they wait? Not sure if they would only offer 1 year to someone, or if anyone would be willing to just do the 12 months
