Aside from ******** Greene and Himmelberg, most of the shit blokes have moved on. The 3 main ones were him, Shaw & Patton stoking the fires.

Kelly was always likeable, Haynes too and he never really did anything about the Bont collision, he was basically thrown under the bus (which then rolled over). Current day they have some a new generation of players coming through. There will always be a bit of spite, but it’s not as bad as it used to be. Won’t exactly be upset when they get knocked out of finals though.

Probably worse with the few GWS fans and how they act toward us.

You forget the most intimidating moment since Barry Hall almost ripped that north flogs head off.

I heard Bont still has nightmares about having to toss the coin against Haynes

Cameron was also a monumental prick in games against us (and other teams - including being a sniper more than once). He's moved on too.

I like watching them, I really respect their toughness and tenacity and the coach has them fit and purring. But I still hope they lose, and lose big. They're still in my top tier of AFL teams I fundamentally dislike along with Geelong and Melbourne.

That 2016 was top level campaigner. Could add to those mentioned previous Finlayson, Devon Smith, Shiel , Whitfield and Mumford.
Back then I wouldve included Lobb in there aswell.

This. Greene really only became a direct flog against us when he whacked Caleb the year after. Before that he was just general scum. 2016 was just the ultimate melting pot of our team trying to overcome an existence of being and underdog versus the ultimate private school given everything in life GWS team.

I need everyone advocating for getting ol' block head adam tomlinson on this board to watch tonights game please.

It feels like it’s so so obvious but how have Melbourne not yet been linked to Chol? They’re at least a decent tall forward short and Chol seems to fit in well with Fritsch, Pickett and Van Rooyen.

Cheap both salary wise and trade asset wise. Maybe a second rounder and the promise of a 3 year deal at 450-500k.

It's weird how they made no attempt to get Lobb last year, they were crying out for a solid tall forward who can rotate through the ruck and he'd be a regular in their 22 since their tall forwards are not that good at the moment.

Makes you think how much salary is actually tied up in the midfield. It beggars belief because every other line is stacked with a star.

Good luck to Josh Schache tonight when he gets in.

Pickett has to be right up there with the Grub for me. Just an absolute gobshite of a footballer. Happy to give it but then flops if anyone goes near him. He needs pulling up for staging.
Yep just about biggest grub & also flop in the game. He’s actually pretty flipping average, has some elite moments sure but as inconsistent as they come. Makes Weightman look like prime Macrae when it comes to backing up performances

For all the talk of fast & furious 2023 style footy , Carlton often look slow , big and lumbering . But it works . Best way to move the ball quickly is to kick it & get a big bloke to mark it. Some things never change .

It’s pretty traditional football, solid full back, brute of a ruck, slow but contested beasts in the midfield - the only reason it works though is their full forward takes marks for fun dobs them from 60 and is good for 80 goals a year.

I think with Marra, Naughty & potentially Darcy at our best we should have a similar traditional forward line, but there’s room to make it a little more hybrid and add speed around the ball, it only makes the strong marking forward line stronger if you can get it in with speed.
