Very suspicious of people with $100 notes.

Who even uses cash anymore?

Not me, although the old man sent cash for my Xmas and birthday this year. Including a $100 note. Can't spend it though for fear people think I'm some kind of crazy egomaniac. Imagine handing over a $100 note in exchange for goods and services, just makes no sense.

What’s the investment proposition for spending $18m on a SANFL oval for a team that doesn’t want to play SANFL?

Upgrading female spaces is still attracting heaps of grant funding. Plus they plan to use it as an AFLW ground. I'd imagine a similar amount for upgrades for AFLW games would be included in our development

Is Thebarton going to have a 10,000 capacity?

And they should have included female facilities with the first lot of taxpayer funded upgrades they were gifted

They shouldn't be excluded based on the order that the total development proceeds. If they satisfy the criteria, then there's no reason they shouldn't receive available funding. And not sure the relevance of our capacity compared to Alberton.

The state government has been a good sponsor for PA over the years.
Been mainly Port state premiers... but Mali has done well with gather round.

The relevance is why does state money need to go to increasing the capacity of a stadium that’s rarely used? And our stadium will be used for the same purpose so in the interests of balance and equity, we are gonna need a top up.

Have you watched the lost Leonardo?

Sounds like a lot of crime proceeds sit in airport security vaults in the form of high end artwork
No, what it is showing on?

Sets a precedent...

Our design is our design, if we wanted greater capacity then we'd have included it. Also, I don't see what our funding has to do with their development. I don't th8nk, "but they got some" is going to yield a great result in a funding application. If you don't like them getting money, let your local member know or don't vote for Labor at the next state election.

It’s not just about us and them. There are other sports that need facilities and infrastructure far more than Port do. They’ve had their go.

Money would be better spent on funding a proper home for Adelaide United who get 3-4 times the crowds that Ports AFLW team does.

At least they’re spending money on the netball which needs it.

The 36ers do but Mali laughed off the idea of investing in a new entertainment centre. Next minute, 36ers sell out every home game and majority of touring artists give us a wide berth.

You're fixating on the only the crowd aspect, it's more about the creation of training areas for elite female athletes. $15m is nothing in terms of the developments you're talking about. The other aspect is the 50:50 funding, what's Hindmarsh stadium's proposal and what % are the contributing? Same with 360 rs, what's their proposal, how much are they putting in?

I know I missed the Tippett fiasco discussion (guess will have to wait another 6 months)

But I do want to chime in re the bullshit over the top penalties crows always cop.

My favourite being Tex copping $50,000 fine for not wearing a mask on a plane, then the Port players caught at swimming event but used the excuse they were eating so no fine. Like seriously?

There’s clubs that fight even when they’re in the wrong, and then there’s clubs like ours that just roll over and take whatever shit the AFL throws our way. And I think we can say that good will of being easy to deal with has brought us nothing back.
Because we are owned by the AFL. You can't fight yourself.

The 36ers are inflating their crowd numbers to make people think it’s a sell out.

I went to a match the other week, where despite plenty of empty seats (where we sat the back two rows had about 5 people in them) they posted a crowd of 9400 (which is pretty much capacity).

Maybe the rest were out the back in the tents

What elite female athletes?

Of course they have.

But the difference between Pick 1 and 5 isnt a big deal MOST of the time.

IMO the biggest issue isn't so much setting up a team to lose a few more games, it's the fact we continue to reward it.

Its an interesting debate. I think the actual value between pick 1 and pick 5 isn't as great as the perceived value suggests.

Certainly there are years where this isn't the case as there is an absolute clear freak at pick 1 (Reid, Riewoldt, JHF) which changes the value.

Our suggested trade for JHF trade is one that shows how complicated the value proposition for draft picks is. We offered 3 first rounders for JHF - a trade I would have been more than happy with at the time (and would still pull the trigger on if a player as good as JHF was available in 2025). Those three pics ended up netting us Rankine, Rachele and Dawson - which I would never trade for JHF straight up if offered now.

Since 2000.

2001 Luke Hodge vs Xavier Clarke
2002 Brendan Goddard vs Jarrod McVeigh

2005 Marc Murphy vs Pendlebury
2006 Bryce Gibbs vs Boak
2007 Kruezer vs Jarrod Grant
2008 Watts vs Hurley
2009 Scully vs Cunnington
2010 Swallow vs Polec
2011 Patton vs Buntine
2012 Whitfield vs Stringer
2013 Boyd vs Kolodashni
2014 McCartin vs De Goey
2015 Weitering vs Parish
2016 McGrath vs Setterfield
2017 Rayner vs Cerra
2018 Walsh vs Rozee
2019 Rowell vs Stephens

Me and a couple of mates played golf at a country location a couple of weeks ago (I wont mention the course but its a good one about an hour out of the city)

We had prebooked and were told to being cash to pay for the round as it was a Sunday and the club was not staffed on Sundays (there was a committee member on hand to take our fees)

Think most people don't use cash these days but there will always be a need for it.

Pub poker wont take card but the bigger tournaments around do

Its crazy knowing someone won $8k+ and still walked around with all the cash in a bag or pockets
