I just heard Ox on SEN say "Bassett's a Demon..I played a bit with him"
Thought I'd misheard but nup (I had no idea) he was overlooked by Port in 97 and drafted to The Dees (but never played an AFL game)
Every days a school day hey!

Was really good junior and a surprise he didn't go earlier. From memory he was struggling with his diabetes at the time. Then we traded Brent Williams and Mathew Collins for him.

The thing is how does he think sharing his opinion actually means anything when he’s just parroting the clubs position? Doesn’t he realise that he can’t actually legitimately argue his point?

I don't get it. I've posted before that there's lots of decisions that the club makes that the TOOLS & TROLLS, negative Nancies, bedwetters etc etc agree with, it's just that they're not discussion points because they're self evident, the kinds of decisions nobody could get wrong and we all agree with. The forum fills with discussion around the decisions that are, at least to some extent, arguable. Surely among these arguable decisions, you'd fall on the opposite side of the direction the club went every now and again. We did see it with old K over the Rankine trade in the main board thread and the end result was he cancelled the account to avoid having gone on record as calling the LM team incompetent.

Murphy reckons an envelope of photos helps with any "discussions" 😉

I reckon he would've stayed at the club and been the marquee if we'd have delisted him too.

That's probably the worst bit
Why are we assuming this wasn't discussed with him, or explored by the club?

Will the players association allow you to ignore a contracted trigger, if the player doesn't retire?

Why do we always assume absolute incompetence?

So you’re ok sacrificing a list spot in a strong draft for “leadership” presence in the twos? Why am I shocked.

I've said constantly that retaining Smith on the list was the only down side to the off season from my perspective - literally a dozen times.

But if he's here, then I think him offering leadership in the twos is fine. That is an area where he can contribute, as he has clear ambitions to coach.

Hi George.

Firstly - f*** off. I'm completely disinterested with you stalking me in here and commenting constantly. I have no interest in being one of the posters you get obsessed with. Please block me.

Anyway, so you agree he shouldn’t be on the list but post today saying you’re ok him being on the list playing SANFL and offering leadership, interesting.

And I don’t stalk anyone, if posters feel I do it’s because they either post something I disagree with or it’s just cheerleading posting that I again disagree with that I respond to. If you fall into that category what you’re basically saying is you want to cheer without your opinion being challenged. Fair enough, but will you stop quoting posters you disagree with?
