I'd rather cop that when we are rebuilding than when we are genuinely pushing for finals. They'll change it up again once opening round becomes something for every club and they play 24 rounds in a season (or get two byes).

The AFL are maddeningly inconsistent on when they pull the potential for injury card but (unpopular opinion) I don't mind this ruling
The official line is that if you elect to bump you are accountable for any resulting injury (which he should be very thankful didn't happen). The fine is consistent enough IMO, even if it means that flog gets off relatively light

Apparently he's been sitting amongst the Port Adelaide cheersquad since the age of 10 and no one suspected a thing.
So I saw Port did a big thing for Bok after he broke a club games record. 393 games for the club. Looked at the AFL games records and it says he’s on 373 games. Are they counting his preseason and SANFL games?

They've counted 'games for Port Adelaide' so I assume that is any time he's played an official match for Port Adelaide, be it at AFL or SANFL level.
FWIW the AFL counts pre-season games as official AFL games so I dare say that's included too.
Given Russell Ebert never got to play an AFL game for Port Adelaide it makes sense.

Yeah the broadcast was very clear to say “games in a Port Adelaide jumper” a few times, so it’s clearly SANFL appearances too.
I know that and I knew Ebert never played AFL but celebrating Preseason and SANFL games is stupid. He is the current games record holder for port in the AFL and thats what should matter
It’s a tough one. The vic teams celebrate VFL shit so I can understand why Port would want to do the same. Even though they’re different clubs (aren’t they?)

I hate Port as much as the next reasonable bloke but respect where it is due, they are the oldest professional football club in Australia. Being the player that has represented them the most at all levels is a pretty decent achievement.
Their SANFL side may only be an AFL reserves team now, but they have such a rich history in that competition so it 100% makes sense to include that.
Late edit: Turns out they haven't included any SANFL games, it's just his 373 AFL appearances and 20 pre-season matches (only in the official Community Series/NAB/Wizard Cup though)
It's no different to how we got Gaff and Darling to AFL life membership last season, because AFL include pre-season and representative matches in that as well.

They were, but not anymore.
The original PAFC left the SANFL to join the AFL in 1997, and a new club called Port Adelaide Magpies was made so they'd maintain a presence in the SANFL. They were initially two separate clubs (legally), but I think it was around 2010 when they merged and became a single operation again.
