Didn't see the game but it does seem reminiscent to our round 21 game vs Melbourne in 2021 when there was there was a break of 29 mins break in the final term due to lightning with Melbourne leading by 33. After the break we kicked the last 4 goals of the match lose by only 9 points.
Here there was a break of 38 mins with Brisbane leading by 40 points, then afterwards Melbourne scored the last 5 goals and only lost by 11 points.

You're correct, it played out similarly.

Brisbane went conservative and put players behind the ball, whilst Melbourne with nothing to lose threw caution to the wind with their play.

Demons dominated territory as a result and converted that into scoreboard output.

Matches such as these do give me pause to consider if there is a greater narrative within them. Had the leading teams just switched off, or is there something within hyperaggressive approaches that is overtly favourable to modern football? Something perhaps that makes them dominant against more typical or defensive setups?

Maybe McRae is onto more than he is getting credit for.

I think it’s incredibly difficult to sustain that hyper aggressive approach - Collingwood were the best part of 4 goals down before Geelong could no longer go with them

The best sides can maximise scoreboard impact when they’re on and minimise the damage when momentum shifts. Simpson isn’t the only coach who has pointed out how difficult it can be to arrest momentum

Actually called the comeback to my son and think that game the Dee's experienced against us led to their fightback tonight.

There was footage during the break of the Lions guys sitting around while the Demons players were keeping warm jogging/on the bikes. Even afterwards the Brissy players said they didn't know how to deal with the break and they genuinely thought the game was over.

Obviously also being behind and just going for it where the other team is trying to hang on plays a big part too

Wil Ashcroft.

31 disposals and a goal last night.
Pretty big game from a top talent.

Easily rising star nod this week.
Will need something epic for him not to get it.

Hewett's four goals in the fourth quarter to tip West Coast over the line by four points

Port getting screwed royally from the umps. Reminds me of how they officiate our games. Umpires dictate who they want to win these days.

Do we play Collingwood at the MCG because I'd rather us forfeit then having to waste our time with a dodgy bais umpire

Don’t cry for Port, the more they get pumped the happier I’ll be.
Shits me watching a fit Rioli running around for another club.

It's legitimately killing the game for me.

If you get tackled and can't get rid of it it's a free kick, if you drop it it's all good, play on.
