Jeebus, Collingwood were correct to get rid of Grundy (I knew his contract was a mistake at the time, that money should be going to a gun mid or KPF). They realized that Cameron and Cox were providing more output in terms of marking and around the ground work for a fraction of the cost (Cox is more accurate tap hitout ruck). Only took one mark last week and took ZERO marks this weak. His 2018 and 2019 forms when he was AA and winning Copeland trophy are past him.

What that means with his lack of marking power is that he has no presence up forward and provides no option for get out kicks like Gawn does. Gawn will be a huge loss because of it and Grundy's glaring issues will be amplified. Dees have Petracca, Oliver and Viney in the middle and Grundy had 45 hitouts they should be feasting all day long but no, his lack of midfield connection is showing despite having a strong midfield. They got smashed in clearances by 28 against the Lions. Reminds me of Sandilands where he won tonnes of hitouts but Freo would get smashed in clearances. Even when he was playing for Collingwood he won lots of hitouts but Collingwood would get smashed in clearances.

His strengths at his best was his around the ground work only. Not much of a target up forward or down the line and despite winning lots of hitouts he has no connection with his mids despite being one of the best mids in the comp.
