If they fail this year, there are no reinforcements coming through the draft. This is the list for 2 years.

Unless players bail out again.

Better yet, by the time they realise they need to rebuild again the draft will be compromised by Tas19.

Both those teams [Gold Coast & GWS] should be better than what they've shown so far this year. Gold Coast should be under the microscope come seasons end, with all the concessions they had in 2019 to 2021.

They should be, but won't be anytime soon.

More than a decade on and both clubs have average home attendances lower than their inaugural years. You have to go back to 2019 for the last time GWS managed to get over 10,000 at the Sydney Showground (a venue with a capacity of 23,500).

Good luck keeping players motivated when the home venue is barely a third full, lacks any feeling, and interstate clubs are in their ears selling dreams of playing in front of packed stadiums of supporters that will cheer out their name.

The northern expansion with these clubs is a dismal experiment that (outside of broadcast negotiations) nobody asked for. They are now a tar baby that the competition's administration cannot distance itself from and will continue to exist as little more than distortive proxy feeder entities into the foreseeable future.

and most frustratingly their failure has turned them into feeder clubs for VFL teams. I wish we could just **** them off already

Instead of bastardising the comp with a 19th team at what point do we discuss sending the GWS licence to Tasmania?
Tassie will double their crowd week in week out which, with a 20k boutique stadium, is pathetic.

How long do the AFL under new leadership continue to carry a failed cause?

Fremantle is into year 28 🤷‍♂️

The hype on Cameron is ridiculous. Just hearing on radio about Cameron being the best player in the comp.

That's a far stretch. His a great player no doubt but he kicked 7 against arguably the worst side in the comp.

If that's the case Kennedy would of been the best player in the comp for 6 seasons straight.

Dangerfield said it, so it must be true.

Wish people would stop bringing up how Geelong used the picks they got for Kelly to get Cameron. GWS only forced a trade because of those picks, the cats could have kept Kelly and gotten Cameron for free otherwise.
why didn't we get oscar allen with our first pick and Kelly with our second pick and not drafted jarrod brander and we wouldn't have to talk about the kelly trade.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing, but that decision to pick Brander always frustrated me

1) We went "best available" rather then need when we chose Brander, and Kelly was both a midfielder (that we needed) and was very much on our radar
2) I, along with plenty of folk on this board, rated Allen higher then Brander anyway, and we only really needed the 1 tall
3) Had we just taken Kelly, we would have saved ourselves a fortune in future draft capital

TBF, he's been sensational this year.
Leading the Coleman in a side that's only won 1 game.

Might even be leading the coaches votes by the end of the day.
It's just not his goals, he's getting midfielder stats.

If it wasn't for him, they might've lost yesterday.
He kept them in it in the first half.

IMO, he's definitely in the conversation for the best player in the comp.

Was staggered to read Richmond gave both Taranto and Hopper 7 year deals.
WTF?

They would've gone home to Victoria on 4 years deals I suspect.

I'm with Cornes on this one.
Most 7 year deals don't work.

Seems to be a thing now.
Even Hipwood got a 7 year deal and I think he's a spud.

Dude had 25 touches and 6 goals in a losing effort v Carlton a few weeks back. He's absolutely in the conversation for best player out there.
