So 2027

Gives us this year and next to get our draft pieces in place before a slightly compromised draft in 2025 and a fully compromised draft in 2026

I’ve never been one to forgo winning games in order to improve draft position but, in all honesty, finishing at the bottom end of the ladder the next 2 years isn’t going to be a bad thing

As soon as the media made it a thing it was always going to continue. There’s really no point to it but once some people realised it was getting a reaction they jumped on

The same thing happened with Goodes. Initially it wasn’t anything racial but the media highlighted it and it morphed into something quite ugly

Players are going to get boo’d at the footy. Sometimes there’ll be an obvious reason for it, other times less so and if commentators just let it slide without drawing attention to it then it’ll pass without notice by most people

Buckley was pretty good with it on Friday night - his attitude was similar in saying "the media need to stop talking about it and it'll go away".

I don't understand why the club presidents would vote for this. It lowers the chances of them winning flags and probably threatens the financial viability of clubs like North/Saints/Gold Coast. The other clubs don't get any cash out of it either.
Probably because the AFL owns their licences, other than WCE/Freo.

They'll toe the line if they want to keep receiving their current perks.

Same thing with how clubs call out racist trolls who write stupid s**t on social media. Stop giving it oxygen and it will stop.

It's a bit double edged isn't it? The clubs need to be seen as standing up for their player and pointing out racism is wrong, but then they're giving the campaigners the attention they're so desperately seeking. Tough one to deal with. Perhaps if Twatter had more of a certification process instead of letting Port fans (we all know it's them) create as many accounts as they like?

I disagree. If you don't call it out properly, racists won't see any repercussions for their actions. People who write stuff like that deserve to be made an example of.

People troll online to get a reaction, which they get when clubs release statements and other players call it out. imo we're betting off having the nasty comments deleted and an investigation behind the scenes, little to no public acknowledgement. They will eventually stop. Same goes with the JHF booing. Stop bringing it up! and then people will eventually stop as its not being acknowledged.

Deleting comments and acting like nothing happened won't make it better. People will continue doing it.

Having statements and players supporting each other shows that these comments are not acceptable and that the greater community does not accept it.

It also serves as an unfortunate reminder that this exists in society and that it should never be tolerated. Being made a spotlight shows real repercussions of people's actions. People lose their jobs over stuff like this.

When it's an anonymous online troll account they don't suffer any repercussions. Different situation if it's someone saying it over the fence who can be identified and banned.
