There are several things that have been quite apparent for some time.

1) Umpires flavour the better players and the better teams. No free kick to Swallow and Chol are cases in point
2) Commentators (are you listening David King) make excuses for the better players whilst complaining about lesser players doing exactly the same thing.

Coaches and players are examined and criticised by the media. If those same people are not prepared to also examine umpiring decisions then I think for the good of the game a coach should.

If I was Simpson or Dew I'd ring up my president and say they're gonna have to get out the checkbook and then I'd tee off in my press conference. I'd show cases of clear mistakes and where free kicks are paid to or against a certain player but not against other players. And I'd suggest the umpiring is actually getting g worse over time.

It would cause mayhem and Gill would blow a fuse, but it might just actually achieve a result where an honest conversation can be held. Cause right now umpiring is a black hole where nothing can be said and that's not getting anywhere.

Surely the more likely explanation is that most people are barracking for the underdog which is why they feel like they've normally got the rough end of it.

It always is, and aways will be, the consistency issues that annoy people. If you’re not going to pay something, fine, don’t pay it all day, but don’t then pay it the next play. We saw in our game today, player ducks head, play on, a minute later, player ducks again, free kick. Darling absolutely molested in every contest, play on, Witherden touches Graham, free kick 20m from goal. It shouldn’t be that hard
