As the legend goes, cops tried to arrest Tiny Pinder at half time of a Wildcats game for his sexual assaults.

They were persuaded to let him play out the game and arrest him at the end.

Might have been a similar situation

It isn't legend, it actually happened.

1990 NBL Semi Final vs North Melbourne Giants, Game 1.

At half time police were waiting in the locker room to arrest Pinder. The team protested that Pinder wasn't going anywhere, and, after calling for additional manpower to man every exit of the Perth Entertainment Centre, the police were persuaded that he could play the second half and be arrested after the game.

He then played on for another 1.5 years (winning championships in 1990 & 1991) before being convicted and gaoled in 1992.

Richmond favourite Bachar Houli has been airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a car crash.

The Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph reports Houli was in a ute which rolled over several times with a friend near Canberra.

I'm fairly certain she's a Fremantle supporter - where do you get your info from?
Just from what I've picked up over the years through his writing:
  • he went to a PSA school, most likely scotch
  • was a solicitor but became disillusioned and changed jobs
  • follows footy and I assumed WCE based on how hard he sticks the boot into Freo
  • worked at Curtin uni in student housing. May still work there but I'd hope he'd figured out how to make a full time living off the column (otherwise that is a lot of work for a hobby)

What an absolute piece of shit. Was jailed for GBH but got the feel good redemption story. Now it turns out he's been knocking off businesses while gainfully employed as a footballer? Sure, he's not on the biggest bucks but probably still earns $150-200k.

I remember his assault victim saying how traumatic it was to see him join the AFL and suddenly be vindicated. Turns out he was a scumbag all along.

Gotta feel for Cripps. Will be 29 next March, has basically broken his body over and over again for a club that won't get out of it's own way with the closest he's ever gotten to a final was just missing out in the final round last year.

You poor bastard.

Think you're way off with Picketts wage.
He's a regular and premiership player.
Reckon he'd be on $400 000 easily.

Makes no sense really.

Maybe it's prudent to wait until more details surface.

A police prosecutor told the court the alleged offending by Pickett and others involved a series of commercial burglaries resulting in the theft of more than $380,000 in Australian and foreign currencies from within safes.

Pickett’s lawyer David Manera said the prosecution case rested largely on allegations deposits were made into his bank account by his co-offenders and that a camper van rented in his name was driven interstate by the other men.

Even if Pickett wasn't involved with the theft, how was he not aware of the money being transferred into his account?

"I was just holding it for a friend."

That sounds like organised crime stuff. What type of businesses have that much cash in safes?

It makes sense if he was an accessory rather than having donned the balaclava and actually done the break in.

Not saying he is innocent but generally best to wait for a guilty verdict before teeing off, not as though the WA police have never charged the wrong person before.

I read somewhere one of the businesses was a foreign currency exchange, so makes sense on that one
