Belly would be in training for trade week , he dominates , deadline master .
Quite scary approach somewhere the Eagles fail but good luck to him , won the Clark deal off Geelong .

Yes , .....
Won the Weller deal by the length of Flemington straight though .
Just surprising and I'm no Freo fan , still bottom five so not all is great somehow .
I don't believe we're in a bad place, this year has shown that we over performed in 2022, the list is still young as much as I hate using that excuse, I feel like the team throughout the year became scared to play on instinct like they did last year which is why we started so slow this year, we became too glued to a strict gameplan, and by the time we started to play on instinct again it was too little too late.

Despite the fall this season, I think there's plenty for us to be happy about.

Despite turning over players quite a bit I feel as though Freo have done well with what they've brought into the club. It seems to be reaching a tipping point where they are losing valuable assets now though. Guys like Acres made them better, and now they're losing another winger who is just finding his feet.

Have they had many misses with their early picks? Harder to miss than hit when you're picking up the pointy end, I know, but you've still got to do it regularly. Someone like Henry who has taken a few years to come on line and is now leaving strikes me as one of the worst for them.

The weight of expectation got you. And it wasn't just the players. Freo fans I talked to in the preseason were very uncomfortable with the widely accepted expectation of a top 4 finish. Flagmantle was the word of the Summer.

I quite enjoyed pouring on the plaudits to anyone who would listen because I know there's a weight that comes with that expectation and the Purps have been let down before. Longmuir has hinted at as much when wrapping up the season - the players need to deal with the expectation and accept where they are at and what the goal is. You can't have a sustained run if you drop away every time you perform and the hype train gets going.

A lot of fans weren't too keen on the expectations for sure, we even have a thread over on the Fremantle board that was made at the start of the year which is basically "One step back before the ascent"

Where a lot of us agreed that this year would be a step back, I think a lot of us saw a drop coming, not as hard as we did though.

Trading out almost all their draft capital for a ruck didn't help things, especially considering they didn't really need to do it to begin with.

Would love Freo’s list tbh. Obv finishing so low affects the value of the Jackson trade but they have a lot of young talent still outside of their starting 22

Well if Young didn't like us before he certainly won't like us now, we've supposedly said we won't accept anything less than a mid to late teens pick for Henry.

Bold strategy, we'll see if it pays off.
When Bell started as the king his hard nosed approach seemed to get results, as in 'win' negotiations.
I was actually impressed with him initially. Totally changed how Freo went about business. From the trade joke (alongside GCS) to a hard-nosed professional outfit.
However, it appears that by taking this approach he has been steadily accumulating a pocketful of enemies.
And that is now making things very interesting. From an outsider's perspective. No longer impressed.

Won't happen, Darcy from all reports is happy at Fremantle, plus it would be next level incompetency to let him go.

Strikes me as surplus to requirements in some aspects, and currency is high. Only part that would make me spew is that he'd land at the Cats.

Jackson could easily shoulder the ruck and then get a chop out from Tabener. Use him as a ruck bag because it couldn't be any worse than playing him up forward.

Trading Darcy would be a good move for Freo.
You would get possibly 2 first rounders for him.

His next contract will probably be around $800 000.
Do really need nearly 2 million of cap money on 2 rucks?

I liken it to the Gawn/Grundy combination.
Jackson definately plays better when he's the main man.

I'd argue that having Jackson and Darcy in the team works much better than either of them on their own, Darcy rucks which opens up Jackson to run amuck in the forward line, which in turn takes opponents away from Amiss and Treacy, let's not forget Jackson's versatility as a midfielder too.

The team is objectively better when both of them are playing, our structure is a lot more set, plus Darcy was the best ruck in the competition before he went down with injury, we would be idiots to let him go, Jackson isn't #1 ruck material.

Paul Conners going next level to drum up some interest in Jack Billings:

“I'm in love with Jack Billings the player, and the person.”

😍😍😍😍😍

He averaged a goal a game for the season. 🫤
You have to remember Darcy went down mid way through the season so he had to go straight into that top ruck role. But at the same time, it's not about him necessarily kicking goals, his presence in the forward line allows Amiss and Treacy to run free and kick more, he adds to the forward structure, the few weeks that we had Jackson, Treacy and Amiss running around up forward we looked dangerous.
