It's not that clear cut that the commentators need to sook about it. Both on a hard lead, he can't stop immediately, Pies player plays on at the same time the umpire calls "back 5 metres".
His feet are actually moving back until he sees Mcstay play on then he attempts the smother. Clearly over the mark but and probably could have pulled himself up a little bit quicker but he does move back until Mcstay plays on, this happens at the same time as the umpire calls him back.
How about Mcreary the flog taking his hand off the ball and slamming Warner into the ground just because he got done HTB.

Watching the Pies choke a 27 pt lead, with a non 50m call against them, and Macrae whinging about home ground advantage affecting umpires is absolutely delicious. Now to fine him 20k for calling it a circus and I’ll break out a box of tissues.

Not being in WA I dislike Geelong far more than I dislike Freo.
Having said that Brisbane already lost earlier today, we won and I'm still riding the Djoker gold so I'm already in a good mood.
Elsewhere, the Lions' woes in front of goal came back to haunt them again, kicking 2.8 in the second half to 8.1 from GWS.
Brisbane dominated everywhere apart from on the scoreboard.
Giants now are suddenly into 2nd spot for the moment, although Geelong and Port can still jump them with wins.
The Lions' chances of finishing top 4 now rest on the Dockers getting wins, but not by too much as percentage also comes into play.
