Teague resigning Monday morning.
Surely looks like it;

"I think it's going to be Monday. I had a chat this week and they said after the game they'll get together, the board, and have a look at that," Teague said.

"I've been very lucky, the support – I know I mentioned the other day I haven't had the support of people from within the footy club, but what I do want to do is take the opportunity to thank people that have supported me.

"My family and friends have been amazing, the number of people who I've connected with over the journey of coaching at other clubs, 13 years of coaching, but people I haven't connected with have reached out to me.

"When you've got guys like (Alastair) Clarkson, (Damien) Hardwick, (Chris) Fagan, (Mick) Malthouse mentioning that I'm doing an okay job or 'tracking normally', it does give you a bit of confidence.

"I understand the club will make a decision. Let's be honest, it doesn't look like it's going to go in my favour, but in terms of what I've done and what I've been able to control, I know who I am, I know the way I've done it and I'm really happy with it."

Good to see someone showing some class.

He may not have been. The right person or even the best coach but there are ways to appoint someone (not on the back of a media and supporter hype train) there is a way to support someone (put people around him to help, not leave him on an island) and there is a way to sack someone (not string it out for half a season and leave him to suffer).

Poor by the club they failed at every opportunity.
Poor by the media applying the blowtorch to Teague instead of that board.
Poor by the coaches union for letting one of their own be treated that way. Also seemingly not done the right thing by the assistants not letting any of them know by AFL aug 1 deadline their futures.

Tom Browne on Sunrise just said Teague is gone today or tomorrow, he just doesn’t know it yet

Sounds like Teague is pretty much resigned to that happening, it’s extremely shit that Carlton people are talking to the media about it though.

You’d hope that sort of treatment of a coach might put off potential applicants for the role although it sounds like Lyon is keen as mustard to get back in the game.

Heard a grab of liam Pickering on SEN yesterday morning addressing how lyon and the Blues have treated his client, he didnt hold back (basically called Lyon a grub) so I think its pretty clear teague will be gone by monday.
He also said the only reason lyon pulled out of the pies gig is because the pies are casting the net wide and following proper process whereas blues have basically guaranteed him its either him or clarko.

Teague was dead man walking 10 weeks ago.

Lyon will happily dance on his grave. Remember the Harvey situation at Freo.

Not sure Lyon is the answer TBH.

And Pickering has never been involved in background discussions  He does what he is payed to and goes into bat for his clients. He is just doing what managers do. Pickers has history as far as his rants go. Not everything he says is gospel.

I do agree the Blues have treated Teague poorly but it is the Blues issue. It is no fault of Lyon that Carlton have made it what it is. Lyon is interested in coaching and Carlton have called him. There have been more mixed messages coming from Clarkson about coaching than Lyon. All Lyon has ever done is say he would take the call when they decided on the coach. Not Lyons issue they have decided to sack the coach but not told him he is gone. Until last week Lyon had been pretty clear about commenting on the Carlton job until they had decided what they where doing.

I know why Lyon has not been interested in Collingwood. They still have a board issue looming where it is still unclear who the president will be so it is not like you are starting off with the backing of the board as there is no certainty who is actually going to be on the board. With Carlton he would have a new president who wants him and a list that IMO can bounce back quickly as it has a lot of quality players on it.

Fremantle initiated that as well. Not like Lyon approached them first. Since when has someone had to consider someone's situation when you are interested in their job that has actually been offered to you by their employer. Lyon made no media comment on it. He took the job that was offered and did it because the Saints negotiations where stalling. I know I am going to not turn down a job I want and been offered just because they have not told the person in it he is going to be sacked. Lyon has not danced on anyone's grave. The clubs have made the situations what they are.

Yeah you are right, probably harsh, just not a fan!

He has not always come across well in his post match interviews. I can see why people are not fans.

Just watched the finals 2 minutes of the Cats vs Demons game. In regard to Close punching the ball, did that happen before or after the umpire blew the whistle for the OOB free? It seemed very tight. If it occurred before, then it could be argued that Close did not know where the boundary line was and he was punching the ball away from competing Demons players. In any case, I was glad to see Melbourne win!

100%

The other things is that Teague is not 2 years into the rebuild. The rebuild started in 2015 and Bolton coached for 3.5 years from 2016 to 2019.

The list has been in good shape since 2018 even if it was young.

It was up to Teague to get results and he's delivered completely unsustainable front running football instead with mediocre results.

Look at what Hinkley, Sanderson, Bevo, Pike and Simpson have done and how quickly they did it with lists that were in a similar shape. Rutten looks like he is just about to do it.

If you listen to the sacked coaches club they could all get it right if given long enough. They probably could but that's more support to get rid of the ones who don't do it quickly, isn't it? Should Carlton wait another 3 years by which time Cripps, Saad and Williams will be on their last legs and Weitering, McKay, Curnow and Martin will be in their late 20s with probably 1 crack at a plan to win a premiership left.

The AFL industry is far too tolerant of the incompetence of coaching and the commentary can't see the difference between the precedents such as Thompson, Hardwick and Goodwin where there was a history of finals and facets of the game that you can build sustainable footy from (e.g. ball winning and huge running at least for Richmond).

Carlton has none of this and should give an underperforming coach a few more years in the interests of fairness when there is a guy waiting in the wings who has proven twice now that he can get a team straight into contention (not to mention putting 3 years into the current Freo list with the kids).

It's become absurd.

Just because Carlton has burnt coaches in the past for the wrong reasons doesn't mean that just sticking with an underperforming incumbent is responsible by default.

Give Lyon 4 years give him resources and they play finals for the next 4 years.

Carltons about to realise their list ain't that good. They'll play finals, maybe even get to the 2nd week.

They won't win a flag.
