If you're serious as a club you tell that little sh*t player he is welcome to be a man and come to play for his $600k to $700k a year under the coach you think will deliver premierships or he can fu** right off.

It's not even a discussion, if you're acting normally, that is. Who knows what Carlton is doing right now.
Carlton aren't acting normally nearly 1.5 mil on two HBFs surely not thinking logically

This is just Carlton now trying to create a narrative that it isn't 'the same old headhunting, backroom dealing Carlton'.

It's a group of insecure 'heavy hitters' who are doing things just like the Carlton of old but who want to be seen to be doing something different. It's corporate management 101, pretending the substances of your actions can be hidden by the form of the last press release, process or policy documents. These are the same guys who oversaw a transition of power from Silvagni who knows football and was doing a good job to an insecure CEO.

I would go as far as saying the whole review was just a sham to provide cover to bring Lyon in. McClure has been saying for months that the Carlton job was Lyon's for the taking. Love Scoop or hate him, his sources are generally impeccable and he is a Carlton man.

Now the Carlton board, in the ultimate twist, has Carlton'd itself, turning on the guy it head hunted because it thinks there is a better coach available. This has to be an unsurpassable record, something not even the Russian and Middle Eastern oligarchs could manage in soccer.

It is inconceivable that this review has not been completed to the point they can make a call on Teague. The only reason to delay the call is due to Clarkson. It is inconceivable that Teague has the credibility or authority left, taken from him by this process, to continue to coach. No amount of written policy documents and press releases will change that.

There is a very good chance they end this without a coach for next year, probably going back to David Campbell of Egon Zehnder to head up the recruitment process.

Carlton would be better of spilling the board and putting Jack Elliott and his cronies back in. At least they act with guts. It would be an enemy I could respect.
Yeah I agree with this.
I think they haven't pulled the trigger on Teague yet to see if they can get Clarko for 2023 after his sabbatical.
If they get a gentlemans agreement from Clarko for 2023 they give Teague a stay of execution for 12 months.
That in itself would lead to many LOLs if Teague managed to pull Carlton to the finals and then gets knifed for Clarko.

No doubt Teague deserves the boot imo. shootout footy hasn't been a viable game plan in a long time. I get it though, gameplan wise he's trying to zig when everyone else is zagging. He's just zigged into a wall

Interesting inducting a female into the hall of fame, guess it like having SANFL players in the hall of fame

Feels kinda weird but I guess we are progressive

Jack Oatey elevated to legend status. Never heard of him so did a quick google. As a coach, won 10 premierships in the SANFL, three with Norwood and 7 with Sturt. The only coach to have coached over 500 wins at an elite level. 513 wins out of 777 games, which is a win percentage of 66%.

I'm not surprised he was elevated to legend status. I'm surprised it took so long, especially since he died nearly 30 years ago.

So straw poll, when people think Judd, do they think Eagles Judd or Carlton Chromedome Judd?

The HOF seemed to overwhelmingly portray him as a Carlton person but I’ve never really viewed him that way. The Judd I remember is the Judd that kicked a bag of 5 at the Gabba as a 20 year old against one of the most OP sides of the last 50 years.

Carlton Chromedome for me. But probably because I wasn’t following footy that closely when he was at west coast

It's that the point, Freo/Bell will want to set a standard?

In both cases (i.e. Hateley and Martin) the suitor was offering bullshit second round picks and GWS and CG wouldn't deal.
And in hindsight, second round picks were reasonable compensation.

Chicken-wing eye-gouge Judd for me.

But seriously he was an awesome player at West Coast. Was not the same at Carlton and was overrated there IMO.

Jesus Christ you post some funny sh*t 😂
the women's league has barely began and they have a hall of fame entry i mean at least wait till they have someone like Perry Lanning in Cricket

She won a few best and fairest in a league and helped organise a couple of girls exhibition games

I mean wait till you have a 3 time league best and fairest, 500 goal kicker jesus

West Coast Judd was a phenomenon, Carlton Judd was a great player who'd lost a bit of the explosiveness that made him so incredible.

Either it's Elise Perry or Meg Lanning.
Perry or Lanning

Lanning up there with Punter as best captain

Perry our best all rounder male or female

Eagles Judd for me. He was a good player at Carlton, but the Eagles version was one of the best ever midfielders. I'd have his Eagles form up there with GAJ as the best since 2000.

Yeah agree with this.
How much i wanted his services when he came back to Vic.
Equivalent deal at the time would have been myers and pears picks plus Gumbleton

Judds best football was undisputably at West Coast, and so i think of him as an Eagle first, Blue second

Not sure if I have told this story before but here goes;

A couple of years ago my Dad suffered a mild stroke & went into the Royal Melbourne. Whenever we'd visit him during that first week he could barely put two words together that made sense. He was in a very confused state. He actually stopped talking at one point altogether.

The following week my younger brother and I went in to see him and we told him not to try to talk but just listen to us.
So my brother let him know what was going on outside his room and daily events. He wasn't responding too much and wasn't very happy, miserable in fact. Then we moved on to the topic of the footy and he perked up. We'd just been beaten by Collingwood which he didn't know so the smile sort of dulled off his face when we told him we'd lost. Then my brother mentioned Carlton and said 'Essendon will be ok Dad, but I feel sorry for Carlton. They got pumped by almost 12 goals and are going nowhere.'

My Dad turned his face to my brother and went on to say the first thing he'd said in days, '**** Carlton!'
Dad came home a few days later and has since made a full recovery.

If nothing else it's genuinely amazing what good Carlton can do for people.

Awesome story especially the recovery. Am slightly concerned that your brother felt sorry for Carlton though.
