Should they go after someone high profile like Choco or Bucks, or try another untested assistant?
I get the sense there’s deeper cultural and funding issues that need to be addressed as a priority.

I don’t even know if Dew is the problem. I personally hate the ‘sack the coach’ solution and media pile on in the lead up.

its the easy option as you don't need to spend draft capital getting a new coach. whatever the issue is Dew doesn't seem to be able to get past it

They really need to allocate 4 or 5 list positions to vets who are close to cooked but can provide that leadership needed.

GWS did it with Power, MacDonald, Brogan and Chad Cornes.
I think that had a major difference on the differing fortunes of both teams.

I don't know, but maybe, after all this time, the solution should be to get rid of Cochrane. He's toxic.

Nope. Since he has been there he has got the coin out of the government to give them the facilities needed for an AFL club and they have actually cleaned up the party culture that was there. The problem with the GC was the AFL tried to do it on the cheap to start with and that was never going to work. They are in the third season of a new rebuild. Not sure what people expected given how heavily they have invested in the last couple of drafts. They will need to improve on the field that is for sure but TC has done a power of work to get them in a position of field so that the on field results can be possible. His interview the other day was great. Answered all the hard questions and did not shy away from the fact they are all under the pump because they need to turn around the on field results. Right now they do not look any worse than the Lions did 6 years ago.

I said he was toxic. He publicly lambasted the coach who brought them to their highest finish, nearly a finals appearance, well after he had already been sacked, to cast public vision away from their own continued failings. Sorry, that's a toxic person.

Then he publicly labelled the playing group as rubbish. That's toxic, too, and unbecoming of a club president in my opinion. That's the stuff you deal with behind closed doors.

I'm not suggesting he hasn't been good for business, but they are two different things.
