How good would it be to see Carlton miss the 8 this year. Imagine if that happened.

Not looking great for Francis so far at Sydney. Did not even make the emergency list despite four 190cm plus players being out. Looks like they have him set as a forward despite naming him at full back for the VFL.

Its a "Hobbs rolling his ankle at training" scenario. Be lucky to play VFL. Blokes cursed.

Crows have made some moves that raised eyebrows in isolation but the sum looks bloody good, you have to say.

I can’t really fathom how Carlton are still less than the sum of their parts by a significant margin.

Carlton have:

Drawn with Richmond (who's only win was against Adelaide so far)
Beaten Geelong (who are up struggle street)
Beaten GWS under dubious circumstances
Beaten North, who we know aren't great.
Gotten smashed by Adelaide.

They're 3-1-1 with a percentage below 100 after having not really played anyone if note. St Kilda, Bulldogs, Brisbane and Collingwood in their next 5. That will be a challenging period apart from West Coast

Good team hyped up to make ppl think they're great
Mckay for all his size does not compete hard the way charlie does and has one trick in his kick bag.
Cripps looks shot again. An underdone walsh looked their best mid.

Playing likes of plowman, jsos, fisher, acres, durdin, honey when your only injuries are docherty, gov and williams.
Depth isnt there
Gap between best and not best on their list is wide

And jury is out on voss as a coach.
A maybe proposition for finals and would probably take harry and charlie both vying for the coleman to make top 4.

Are the sum of their parts really that good?

A defensive group that is more driven offensively than defensively apart from Weitering, Saad and Plowman (who genuinely sucks).

One genuinely AFL standard wing in the side with Acres. De Koning is talented but I'm still largely unconvinced he's a genuine first ruck and Pittonet is a good VFL player who can do a job at AFL level.

The twin towers are good but Silvagni has kicked 9 goals in his last 18 games, and outside of a purple patch of 11 goals in the first 9 games last year he has 65 goals in 95 games. I know a few were in defence but those are worse than Shaun McKernan numbers. Their only quality smalls are Fisher and Owens who bizarrely isn't getting a game.
