Aaron Naughton could rival Sam Taylor and Jeremy McGovern as the best packmen in the comp, idiot in the box keeps playing him fwd
Aaron Naughton is a top 10 key forward in the AFL. The argument that he's wasted there is bizarre and inaccurate

Ethan, we have agreed to disagree. Move on
Why don't you? You keep whinging about it.

You get upset whenever someone disagrees with you on a discussion forum.

Fun to laugh at watsons choke in front of goal (and sicilys reaction to it :D) but to be fair on a first year guy he did make up for it with some really good ground ball contests to lock ball in hawks forward half.

i’d say the defender call was relevant last season, but he’s been extremely good this year. without him they’d have a pathetic forward line

I don't really get upset, I explain why I'm right.

Last year he was 13th in goals after finals (11th before finals) and equal 9th in terms of combined goals and assists for the year. For a "down year" that's pretty bloody good.
not getting sad over it.. its wasted breath.
Your argument for it is that he isn't accurate enough. Has kicked 16.5 with 9 GA this year in a side that is 3-5. He's started the year excellently as a key forward. He could finish top 3 in the Coleman and you'd still say he should play defence

do the commentators realise that Staercevic out replaced by Morris is

I'll grant him his goal kicking this year has been much better than previous years. Yep, still argue he could be a top 2 defender in the comp and a big pillar to Bevo keeping his job. Alas, Luke digging his own grave it seems

His career accuracy (in terms of goals/behinds) is a tick under 59% which is pretty good nowadays.

I've been doing a bit of a deep dive into some of the VFL lists that interest me.

Essendon aside, Geelong and Hawthorn are the mains ones that interest because they're not doing the classic load up with high picks rebuilds. They're more rebuilds on the run which I hope can become the norm because I think the depth of the talent pool is not fully appreciated.

Calsher Dear is averaging 4 shots on goal a game in his 5 VFL games to date tother with 12 possessions a game, 4 marks and just short of 4 tackles a game. Those numbers put him in the rarefied air of Daniher and Hogan based on my recollection. That's numbers only, I haven't watched a lot of him play so I'm stopping well short of saying he is at that level (of the guys who are by far the best key young key forwards I've seen play VFL). You can compare his number with Nate Caddy who is going at 2.3 shots per game, 11 possessions, 4 marks and 2 tackles a game from his 4 VFL games (I exclude the game he started but was out of in the first quarter).

I'm not saying that he is better than Caddy or being critical of Caddy, he certainly hasn't been helped by the VFL side's slow start. But they are (interestingly) very similar players, both very aggressive in the air (in particular), are proving to be / renowned as clean marks and very clever forward with a physical presence that extends beyond their size.

Dear's debut was nothing short of assured. Now that he's in the system it doesn't matter that he was drafted as a raw prospect. Unless and until I see a decline I'll be thinking of him as a R1 caliber player when assessing their list build.

And yet are somehow 40 points up

I wonder who will get the Marcus Ashcroft medal?

Minted of course for a guy who made significant contributions to both clubs, won 3 flags at Brisbane, destroyed Gold Coast’s list for their first 7 years of existence and has now fed 2 top 5 draft father sons back to the lions.

The way Fox are talking it's Zorko, even though Dunkley and Neale were better
