Can understand why the umpire would pay it in the moment but should 100% be done for staging.
Needs to work out how to find space in defence when they have possession to influence their rebound. He’s barely got involved other than negating Fritsch. That’s ok though. Kids get set a task and they need to deliver but he has a looong way to go before he’s an AFL level defender. The days of Prestigiacomo are over.

I’m no crazy conspiracy theorist on umpires. For example I don’t believe they could be manipulated by the AFL to favour a particular team or outcome.
But I do reckon there is plenty of room for a few types of bias at the level of individual umps. Namely:
I’m no north fan but they got reamed that quarter. Two forward 50 HTBs that would have been shots on goal, the first when they had momentum and could have closed the gap and put real scoreboard pressure on.

- favouring a home team
- penalizing players or clubs that backchat or snark
- favouring the team that is higher on the ladder, or has a reputation as being better
- favouring superstars

One of the worst games by a key midfielder that I’ve ever witnessed. Sure, he was tagged, but he did absolutely nothing to benefit his team in any other way. Just completely impotent. Zero endeavour, zero intent, zero incisiveness, zero impact. 14 invisible disposals. It was next level appalling. He should be dropped next week it was that bad.
