I've felt like we might pull a Carlton (2022) this season, but getting a few back recently seems like we could even kick it up a gear also.
The fact that it ‘feels’ like we haven’t been playing that well, let’s say ‘winning unconvincingly’, suggests that our ceiling is high and if we can play better we are in contention this year. The flip side is to say that we really aren’t that good and will be found out eventually. This is the thing about winning unconvincingly, no one knows if you’re legit until you’ve actually proven yourselves in a final.

have we ever "won convincingly" when we've been half decent? I'd rather consistent 20-30 point wins against the majority of teams instead of thumping the rabble and losing close to teams better than us

Perhaps you’re too young to remember the Sheedy era. Good teams win like the Swans are this year. There’s a reason they are heavily favoured to go all the way. There is a significant step up possible from our team if they can find their mojo.

i certainly was (25 btw) but for the longest time to me we’d been front runners against garbage and otherwise unimpressive against any team who had structure

Will get off after a good bloke appeal?
Its Happening Ron Paul GIF

The media and so called experts are all over players falling head first when tackled yet, Ginnivan, Weightman and crew go on their merry way.
And don't get me started on the 'stand' rule. Biggest blight on our game since its inception. [as is above]

I note to the surprise of no-one who has a brain, Sport Integrity Australia has today concluded their investigation into the "secret" drug testing conducted by the AFL and said there's no wrong-doing.

I also note, bless his heart, Andrew Wilkie is still trying to make this a thing, saying that the AFL got off on a technicality, which I suppose is a bit like saying Port only lost on the weekend due to a technicality. Andrew Wilkie got played as part of this Glen Bartlett/Demons drama and now he's totally not mad about it.

So they found no evidence whatsoever that players feigned injuries. I guess the former demons club doctor was lying. Like Nathan Bock when he said he took CJC1295.

It's a bewdy of a rug they've got.

Brain dead journo. We “don’t leave victoria for the rest of the year”. Righto.
No journos to be found there, only AFL accredited sycophants. Can’t expect due diligence when their eyes are obscured by the pubic hair of corporate football’s elite.

the AFL literally tried to suspend butters a couple of weeks ago and got told they were wrong. his other two recent incidents are always things that never hit the threshold of getting a ban. for the afl to have banned him for those........it would have just been immediately appealed and then the AFL being told that they were wrong again

I'm so torn with the dangerfield tackle, it will annoy me if he gets off because less dangerous tackles from less heralded players have resulted in suspension ....but he has made some strong arguments so far.

I'm still so conflicted on where I sit with these sorts of tackles, it's not as clear cut as spear tackles like charlie camerons, he definitely shouldve been suspended.

Me too.

I still think Walsh let his head flop into the ground.

Am not conflicted at all. Dismiss the appeal and hang him good. Well, you know, give him 1 week.
