It is appropriate for the AFL to leave the coaches positions to the clubs and validate the report with an investigation - then when that lands they need to act. Acting before then would be problematic. The AFL doesn't want to be sued.

I just hope it doesn't end up like the Essendon supplement scandal and Melbourne tanking scandals where they were brushed under the rug by the AFL, with only the likes of WADA escalating it out of the AFL's control.
That's exactly what will happen.
Same with the weagles...
AFL will go into damage control.

Gil said he received this report a week ago. No wonder he was so grumpy at the Brownlow. Not the end of tenure he would have hoped for. Won't happen, gotta protect the corporate AFL brand 🤮, but if he were a stronger man he could use this as an opportunity to clean house.

When I say that the AFL will turn a blind eye to everything until you embarrass them in the media - this is the sort of thing I'm talking about. There can be players on drugs, clubs cheating the salary cap, performance enhancing drugs - but if it's not in the media there will be no action.

This is grotesque and deeply disturbing. But the most heinous thing, is it's hardly surprising. I said and have said for many a post the AFL industry is corrupt. Corrupt as corrupt can get....their filthy, murky pies in all sorts.

I firstly, pray for those mistreated and abused. And secondly, I hope those involved are banished and disgraced forever more.

I've kept this brief because it makes you so livid - I could easily get caught up in a monster tirade that wouldn't do me or anyone reading it any good, in a miasmic world where I personally, have struggled with mental health and had to flounder in situations where I received no real help, or where people turned a blind eye...I'm sick to death of people like this in industries where their hubris is out of control. Walking all over people's lives and destroying the 'goodness' at will. F** you all the parasites involved and beyond, I hope you rot in hell and then some

****ing hell, clubs continue to plumb new depths in their treatment of indigenous people. I hope the new CEO (assuming Gil will just play dead to run out the clock) comes with a spine and a distinct lack of rugs.

I'm genuinely hopeful Fremantle's rich indigenous history and strong current leadership with the likes of Hayden and Sonny would prevent anything like this but unfortunately after Adelaide, Collingwood and now Hawthorn, you can't assume your club is acting in good faith.

Maybe at least it's a good thing we don't have one of those old-school coaches with a pronounced mean streak at the helm, despite apparently needing that to win a flag.

Beyond the most important thing which is Hawthorn/AFL acknowledging and trying to repair at least some of the damage done, the fallout from this is going to be interesting. Not just Clarkson and North (which would appear completely untenable) but also Fagan, Mitchell, trades etc.

fagan has to be untenable as well. the army of clarko assistants who have spread across the league, what did they know...

So I wonder how important Clarkson was to Logue and Tucker's trade requests? If he gets the boot could this shift their thinking?

I actually think Clarkson staying (which surely can't happen now) is what would shift their thinking.

Logue will still want his money. The only problem would be a new coach possibly having a different opinion to Clarkson and not wanting them anymore. However, I don't see how it is possible for North to get a new coach before the trade period (October 3-12). So the deals will probably still be on the table and they will still end up there.

The Brisbane Lions and Chris have mutually agreed that he will take a leave of absence from the Club so he can fully cooperate in the investigation.

That's not how bullying works. He wouldn't have tried that on with a star like Buddy, same as he wouldn't have tried it on with Mitchell or Hodge.

Huh. I never said Buddy was/could have been bullied, however, you would be pretty ignorant to think he didn't know of something going on. So please don't try and tell me how bullying works

Wonder how much of the saga had to do with Buddy leaving
If you have a look at the (pretty short) list of indigenous players Hawthorn have had, and the tenues of the people named, you can take a guess this stuff probably mostly occurred between 2007 and 2010 (although you can't rule it out as being ongoing up to 2016). So I'd say un-Buddy related.

Anyway, Kennet, Clarkson, Fagan; is anyone really that surprised given the rumblings over the years?
