A Weird thing is happening. I actually feel sympathy for West Coast with this Harley reid quad awareness stuff. This along with all the bullshit gather round and the these s**t Vic clubs making big profits while getting huge handouts I'm starting to feel a stronger west verse east rivalry
angry clint eastwood GIF

Admittedly I have no idea about costs or seating capacity but was thinking the eagles, dockers, wildcats should go thirds in a private jet or long term lease. Eagles and dockers travel alternate weeks during winter and wildcats season is during AFL offseason. Obviously will need to hire it out when not in use to make the costs work out.

For eagles and dockers, both do well financially, success is gauged 95% onfield. Do whatever it takes to get an edge. Might help with career longevity, injuries, player retention/recruitment not to mention obviously performance.

The soundest advice I was ever given was "If it flys or floats, hire it, don't buy it"

can't say I feel the same, I would be quite happy if they never won another game in their whole existence.

Look I am just really hating the east coast teams right now, I still hat the eags but I just also hate the east coast teams a bit more in comparison.

I know exactly what you mean. It’s getting harder & harder every year watching Vic clubs getting first round talent for nothing through F/S and the northern teams loading up through academy players.

GC seems to have about 3 first rounders every year & they can just give them away & collect points & futures & bring their academy kids in. Sydney meanwhile has a Heeney or Gulden or 2 every year.

We don’t even get to keep someone like Motlop after putting years into him.

I keep having this recurring dread that some time in the future we will play GC in a GF and lose by a point ( which is awful enough) but then have the Vic media et al yell “what a great day for football “. Wilfully ignoring the gross disparities between how heavy the fingers of the AFL were on the scales of their list build.

Home crowd is a big part of that. I get to maybe 1 game a year, and we are a friendly bunch compared to 10 years ago.
This shits me to no end.

We used to be raucous, it's why i became enamoured with fremantle over west coast.

We should be setting optus on fire every week. The crowd has become timid

The crowd fires up when the side is cracking in at the hard ball, it only takes a few players putting in an effort like that - then for the umpire to miss a holding the ball call for us or otherwise robs us of the ball with a 50/50 call.

The crowd will be on fire then.

Back in the earlier days it didn’t even take on field efforts to razz the crowd up. We were just noisy from the get go, starting with the drums and onfield pre game. Crowd these days is far more reactive. We’ve lost our cauldron factor

I swear I remember Subi being a lot more rowdy than Optus. Maybe I was remembering it as a kid 🤷

At Subi you were sitting on top of people (literally on the bench seats). We're all on thrones now by comparison. We've got comfortable.
I remember the crowd being a lot more aggressive though. Some of the stuff I heard as a kid there wasn't pretty but made the atmosphere.

Fear of getting too excited and it not amounting to anything but wasted energy.
We’ve become realists. Need that unbridled optimism back.

Just when things start looking good (2022), we get a dose of reality (2023).

Optus shits all over Subi. Subi was a shit hole. Sitting in the 3 tier stand was great atmosphere wise but the actual seats sucked major testicles. The stadium was a run down piece of shit.

From a WAFL perspective it just made Subi richer.
