Honestly feel the Brownlow medal becomes less prestigious each year. Who ever thinks Cripps is the best in the comp has rocks in their head.

It just comes down to him being a star in an average team. Bit of an insult to all the records he's broken. Coaches votes shows he wasn't a break away at all.

All considered, he's a deserving winner, just not deserving of being the highest ever vote getter for this season.

All you need to do to win a Brownlow is be pretty much the only good/consistently good player on an average team. Sydney having multiple good players means it's unlikely any of their guys will ever win a Brownlow despite being as good as they are.

Why is the most prestigious award decided on by the umpires who have a warped perception of the game anyway? They don't even have access to stats after the games. There's been plenty of games I've watched where my opinion on BOG has changed dramatically after watching the replay and looking at stats compared to watching in person.

Coaches votes a much more accurate assessment. Even those Herald Sun player of the year type awards are more balanced.

I was just looking at how some teams had some shared consistency of several players vs. the single star player team. Like Collingwood's next best after Nick Daicos on 38 is De Goey on 8. Geelong is pretty low in polling for a preliminary final team.
