It definitely takes simple things to occupy my simple mind these days but reading some of the posts from eagles supporters the last 2 years have really given me a lot pleasure
The false dillusion is priceless
Even some of my best mates are buying into it and they played for them

So I wonder how long into the season their bubble gets popped for another year

Can't tell if this is legit or the guy was being facetious, but it brought a smile to my dial anyway.

It's crazy, their young talent is easily the worst in the AFL. Only Reid can be considered a proven young talent, I expect Hewitt to join him but he has to get on the park first. Ginbey legit sucks and who else is there? Chesser?
Hough is ok but lock down defender isn’t high on the critical needs list.

You should check the Pickett main trade thread and the comments on WC not having room for Treacy and Amiss. Their delusions are hilarious.

I can see them building a good midfield if everything goes right (Reid, Allan, Ginbey, Hewett, Davis, Hall). But even if that happens, I only see one forward/defender/ruck (Hough) under 25 who projects to be a decent player, and it's not like he's a star KPP or attacking weapon.

Barass was the canary in the coalmine. Players like that don't leave (especially west coast) unless they genuinely believe the club is going nowhere fast and during their career. I've never seen a west coast team this bad with so little hope over the next few years. Not upset about it but just being realistic.

Tim Kelly in a contract dispute now, along with Oscar Allen being courted. If both of those guys leave I wonder if any of their fans will start to have any sense of self awareness

The obvious response to Eagles hype is to encourage them.

JFC, now I've got FOMO that we missed on Owies and Graham. Easily worth 3 wins each by the sounds of that.

Jack Williams is decent.
Noah long looks okay but projects well.
Ginbey is a hb flanker and isn't a midfielder.
Hewitt if fit will be decent.
Bo Allen should be good for them.
Hough was decent at shutting down smalls in 2024.
And Reid the messiah, the chosen one.

Chesser is very meh

They've got some youth and it does look okay but they don't have enough elite youth. Most of their older players finished high in their best and fairest.

I have them improving but it hinges on the dodgy hamstrings of McGovern.

I have, it was 2022, 2023 & 2024.

I only rate Reid and Hewett as potential a-grade players. Ginbey is a failed mid turned into a meh defender who can’t get or use the ball. Failed pick when they split what could have been Sheezle. Have a feeling Bo Allan will be the same and they will look at trading pick 3 with huge regret.

Basically they are stuffed and it’s great.

I think Hough has AA potential but agree with the sentiment.

They are making the same mistake we did with Ross back in 2016-2018.

Be interesting to see what impact the new coach will have. From memory, it took a good 6 months for us to start to see Lyon's game plan embed, and it wasn't until the season after that it started clicking. Most of us (from memory) expected changes to be immediate. I wonder how much grace Eagles supporters have for things to get worse before they get better (if they get better)

Tim Kelly will be 31 at the end of the year and if his contract isn't extended he will really lament Tasmania not being available to get two or three years at needing a senior player.

WC are going to hope to not need Kelly in the midfield in 2026 with Warner, and they picked Yeo over Kelly for the spare spot.

If they hadn't traded out their top pick in 2022 and 2024 they'd have a midfield containing Reid, Sheezel, and Jagga Smith

Hough is very good and I think Williams could surprise. Apart from that it will be relying on their recent draft crop

Jesus Christ, wasn't just one, it was a few, even a couple of normally reasonable ones. I would normally be all over those Warner and Pickett threads but I honestly can't stomach the level of cringe and stupidity in them. A couple of the most painful threads I've ever read.
