I'm really surprised they put him back out there. They were never going to win the game. Now, their captain is most certainly out for the season.

I think Geelong is kidding itself thinking it will get anywhere in the finals. If Geelong does make top four, I'm predicting a straight set exit.

Wow. Think it shows the difference betweem the clubs.

Sums very kneejerk in the decision making where as the Giants plan everything out.

Feels like a dumb move from all the way down here

Not so sure it's a knee jerk reaction, end if season ideal time probably but we're a few weeks off.
They gotta get the next one right though, the third coach has to be ling term in my view or they risk chaos.
I have no skill in picking coaches but I've always liked Jon Barker as a player and then what I saw publicly as Carlton coach. The fact I was hoping he'd get that job instead of Bolton just confirms my guessing as pretty ordinary

I know players don't read this but if they do Jacob Hopper congratulations on being one of the last men left playing AFL

Melk would have got a week if Hopper had gone down like the rest of the modern day pussies

So, with the Cats winning it keeps the interest alive with regards to our clash with them in a fortnight's time.

It's very possible that we could be playing them for the chance to play them again, in the first final, for a home ground advantage.

If we finish third, under Geelong, is it possible that we have to play them in Geelong, in the first final?

I vaguely remember Freo played them four years ago in a first final at home. If they played them there, surely we'd have to as well?

I'd much rather play Geelong at Spotless than Simonds. They're dangerous at home and provee the doubters wrong today.

Does anyone worry about the Swans? Is Sydney the flag favourite, or is it still Adelaide? Or even us??

The Swans are scary good. Sure, Freo isn't much chop, but they were completely destroyed when I thought they'd just get beaten comfortably.

I think it's a three horse race between Swans, Crows and Giants. Our best can beat them all, but I'd be crapping myself playing Adelaide over there.

What happens is if we play Sydney in a preliminary final? We got 60K for the final last year, so it'd have to be played at ANZ again. Can AFL still be played there?

I believe the status at this stage is we play finals at Spotless unless it's the Swans, then we get told to play at ANZ while that still possible.

I agree that Sydney have come good at the right time of the year, and will definitely make finals, so they plus the top 4 are probably the most likely and Swans given their finals experience would be hard to beat. They are easily a team that could win from the bottom half of the finalists. Pretty reasonable to have Crows, Swans & us as 'most likely', although I definitely don't discount Cats & Tigers.

If it's GWS vs Sydney, expect it to be ANZ. That's OK, I can live with that. The news articles said that the turf would have to be relaid for AFL however.

Seriously though, what happens when ANZ is no longer viable for AFL matches? It will be a big problem for the AFL if and when we play the Swans in another final.

What a PR nightmare it would be to have 20K+ fans locked out of the SCG because it only holds 46K. And, what an injustice if we're higher on the ladder, yet they get the home final!

My partner is Swans, so I couldn't handle losing to them in a prelim or, in an even more of a horrific scenario, a GF! He'd be rubbing it my face something shocking!

I personally feel there's only three teams in it. Cats have too many injuries and suspect under intense pressure. Richmond just has a poor winning culture.

Until either of those other two contenders do something to prove otherwise, I think they, like whomever else gets in the eight, are simply making up the numbers.

That would be why Sheppard is pushing for ANZ to retain an oval option

And the Mutts are out of the 8.

Given that we destroyed the swans last year in the finals I don't think we have much concern with them. Would be nice to have an all Sydney GF though. But I feel like it will be us vs the crows.

But Swans beat us a few weeks back. Hopefully our injury list will look better than when we took them on the last time.

Whilst I hate the mutts supporters, and was ROFLMAO at Redpath being done for punching Phil while Toby got off with a fine - I must admit that three weeks falls quite firmly on the ridiculous side of the ledger.

From what I saw a fine or a week at most. Even with a poor record.

For most players a week down to two would have been given. In previous seasons a fine, but there's a focus on eliminating punching. He does have a poor record so was given 3 weeks down to two.
The decision to challenge made it 3 when it was unsuccessful, which always looked likely given he did punch.
lt's really a failure of the Bulldogs club system to challenge. It's very easy in room of people who want to achieve an outcome to convince yourselves that the impossible is possible. An area where you need the discipline to be cold, pragmatic and objective. That didn't happen clearly.
I don't see the problem. My understanding is it's similar in ciminal law where throwing your hands up and pleading guilty leads to a reduced sentence and tough choices have to be made.
