I can't speak for dlanod - but for me it's a good old-fashioned Grudge.
I'm happy to nurse this grudge into old age.
100% this.

One of the most egregious bullshits pulled. Up there with the Sydney trade ban.

VFL House not even hiding the fact that their so-called "audit" of Geelong's books is nothing but window-dressing:

In an eyebrow-raising development, one of the high-ranking AFL officers overseeing the reported Geelong audit recently capped a six-and-a half-year stint as the Cats’ chief operating officer. The revelation comes following reports the Cats are being audited by the league over third-party player payments.

An audit is an independent examination into financial reports to verify them and ensure they have been kept properly. “This one has raised a few eyebrows in clubland and out of it,” the Herald Sun’s Lauren Wood said on Fox Footy’s Midweek Tackle, before co-host and fellow News Corp journalist Scott Gullan shared details. “The Geelong audit ... Simon Kelleher was the Chief Operating Officer at Geelong for six-and-a-half years,” Gullan revealed on Tuesday night. “This is his job now at the AFL: General Manager — Club, Finance, Performance and Growth. Which means he’s in the department (which) talks to clubs about audits. He’s not the one counting, the bean counter doing it all, but he’s certainly the one communicating. So, you’ve got ex-Geelong talking to Geelong about their books that he was involved in. So, I think it’ll go away.”

He’s no longer with us, but according to the AFL staff writers, Hopper made the best debut in our club’s history?

Jacob Hopper v Gold Coast, round eight, 2016

Having progressed through a talented Giants Academy program, Hopper's long-awaited debut was worth the wait. The hard-nosed midfielder produced the type of performance that club officials had long been expecting from him. Matched against Gary Ablett jnr, the teenager finished with 32 disposals, 17 contested possessions, nine clearances, eight score involvements and seven inside-50s in a dominant inside midfield display. Stiff to miss Brownlow votes, given the nature of his performance, Hopper would quickly establish himself as a key member of the Giants' midfield and later earned his spot in the club's September team which narrowly lost a preliminary final to the Bulldogs. – Riley Beveridge

It was a ridiculous debut

TBH I can’t think of a better debut performance at our club. Took Ablett out & had plenty of it himself. It was something to watch.

It was pretty insane. He was everywhere that day. Looking at this record, it's ended up being one of his best three or four games ever (probably edged out by his 2021 games against Richmond and Gold Coast, both losses, and 2023 against the Eagles, flogging a crap team) - and it was on debut. He looked like a real star.

I think he has been plagued by niggles, otherwise he would have been (and still maybe) a star.

Absolutely the injuries and niggles have played a part. He's always got something flaring up, and I really worry (well, not too much since he's now at the Tigers) that they've built up to a point where we're not going to see more than the very occasional domination game compared to what he looked capable of in those first few years.
