This should be a great prelim.

I think the Lions and Blues have the most raw talent of all teams left in the finals and in many ways both sides have the same strengths and weaknesses.

It should be a fascinating game with the Lions to get the chocolates with home ground advantage and too many good small fowards.

That has to be Carlton's gf.

5 or 6 players really busted up.

How Melbourne managed to lose that who knows.
It is an uncanny replica of what happened with us last year, although the standard of out game was much better. Beat a favoured Melbourne at the MCG, but then have to travel for the Preliminary. That was their Grand Final.

Based on what I saw last night, particularly in terms of poor decision making, sloppy disposal and physically banged up players, we have Carlton covered. Sh*t just got more real. I’d say we are going to play in another Grand Final.

Finally, big shout out to the bourgeois, born to rule, rude, jumped up Melbourne supporters, who were so ungracious when the beat us at the MCG this year. My son and I were in the Members and these people were shockers.

Carlton ran out of puff in that game but then Melbourne choked and Carlton found one more effort in them. The Blues stopped for large parts of that second half and combined with the way Voss spoke in his post game presser and their celebration, they look like they are content with what they've achieved.

The Lions are fresh, at their fortress and have unfinished business, nothing short of the GF will do and we are more mature and more experienced at finals with a great balance of youth and run. This is ours to lose but the challenge will be for our players not to be thinking that and it will be tough for them not to be.

How did Melbourne not win that?
That oliver shot with like 4 mins left, gawn touched it on line not carlton. And he hit the post a minute before, And Pickett hit post with 2 mins left couldve passed it easily.
Viney clears Weitering in the last minute and a bit and Melbourne win. Smith was out and Pickett was inside 50. Would have been a two on one, ‘Joe the Goose’ goal, game over. It is cruel, but the whole game turned on that tired, right foot kick. From there, Carlton were clean and sealed it.

Why? Why on earth would you go there.

Now I have to go find a chicken to sacrifice.

Joking ... I already have a chicken.

No chickens will be sacrificed - best pets ever.

I’m scared about the umpires.

My boss said a week ago that the AFL would love nothing better that a Collingwood v Carlton final, with a Collingwood win.
think theres a fair bit the afl would like about a rematch 20 years on of 03 with one of brisbane's greatest sons presenting the norm smith as well

Absolutely they would.

But how they'd manage to corrupt the umpires is a step too far and a risk the organisation wouldn't take for mine.

As for whatever biases the umps themselves might be carrying in their heads different story

You’ve watched some of the umpiring this year haven’t you. Not hard to imagine us getting royally done over at all.

Honestly . Could you imagine anyone in Senior positions at the AFL directing umpires to favour certain teams ? That'd be the biggest story in sport in this country , too many people would know as well.

Obviously there's more than one way to skin a cat and individual umpires would have biases against certain teams. but I think it's more to do with incompetence , trying to impose themselves in the game and crowd hysteria that produces bad decisions.

Like every Lions supporter I think we get done over every week but that's my bias ,when I watch games from the perspective of the other team they often cop their whack as well.

The issue for me is inconsistency and incompetence which strangely seems more marked since they brought in 4 umps.

Just talking about this over a hot chocolate this morning. How much the AFL would love a collingwood carlton grand final. Your concern is my concern even though that should not be entering anyone's minds.

I recall this chat in 2019 when there was a chance of a pies-tigers grand final, then it flipped to ‘the AFL want GWS to win’ after the result.

Yep, quite often I will think we are on the end of a bad free kick count and I look at the stats at the end of a game and we actually won the free kick count.

Watching Carlton keep turning the ball over and make silly mistakes reminded me of what we were like a few years ago when we first played finals. We are a different team now and will punish them unlike Melbourne last night who just couldn’t kick straight.

Expect them to stay with us for the first quarter and then the game will open up after that. Lions by 10 goals.

Interesting discussion, especially when considering the ball spent literally the final 7 minutes of play in that game inside Collingwood's half, and the vast majority of that inside 50. I don't think a single free kick was paid in scoring range.

Don’t fear …. No way the pies get past the orange team
Yeah with Adams out for Collingwood it really is all coming up orange right now. Banged up Port tonight, and last night's game is evidence enough that Collingwood are not going well at all right now.

If we are good enough to get past Carlton next week I can really see the Giants being our toughest opponent of the 3 left on that side of the draw. They'll back themselves to match us around the ball and then run us off our legs.

These games are so scrutinized by Afl fans from all clubs, and they are all willing to call out biased umpiring.

I think it's just incompetence and individual umpire bias.

No amount of bad umpiring is going to stop us winning this by lots.
