No concept of how he could be paid enough for band 1 (baring AFL intervention). Never been anything more than an average key defender and nowhere near anything close to AA level. Frawley was dodgy compensation and he had won an AA. We fudged the numbers for Daniher and he had won AA. McKay has done nothing

That would be the dream scenario for a flag.. however a loss to Collingwood in a Grand Final would be horrendous, a loss to the Giants while still heart breaking but not quite as bad as to the Pies.

it is funny some people point to the team mckay is in and say its why he has looked poor or not received any kind of all-australian recognition

sam taylor and james sicily were both all-australian defenders in the last 2 years in bottom 4 teams

harris andrews and tom barass have both made all-australian squads in bottom 4 teams

quality shines through regardless of the crap around it

i do not think he will magically enter the bracket of elite defenders of the competition simply through a change of scenery. i know there are free agent premiums and the market appears to be a bit whacky this year with the new CBA about to come through, but ben mckay getting paid more than harris andrews or steven may is rather grim to think about

The best part of watching Giants this season is regardless of how dire the scoreboard looks, they'll mount a challenge / fight back. It's like our "Comeback Kings" season few years back, you just know we won't go away and keep fighting. It'll be a great, entertaining game tonight with Bedford and Daniels zooming up n down the ground.

I am going for the giants, and feel they have shown better form then the pies in the finals series. But if the pies come out with a week off and dominate, it will be me a bit more faith we will do the same.
