Absolutely spot on! Been waiting for this for a fair while, didn't disappoint!

Frontier with Kahl Drogo looks interesting also

I went looking for the next episode straight after watching. Have to wait a couple of days for the next instalment

Ok so I've just gotten into Dan Carlins Hardcore History podcasts. Wow.

I'd urge anyone who hasn't already listened to any of them, next time you want to listen to the radio, try hardcore history instead. Absolutely gripping.

No it's not about pr0n

They are an extremely detailed account of the brutal history of man. From the mongols to napoleon to ww1 & ww2. He often quotes people who wrote what they'd whitenesed of the battles or some other event.

I started of with a podcast called 'The Prophits of Doom'. That's about what happened in Münster 1534.

At the moment I'm listening to 'Blueprint for Armageddon'. That's based on WW1. Can't get enough tbh. It's given me a whole new perspective of what humans can do to each other, and also the amazing feats of bravery and even kindness where people are experiencing hell on earth.

Honestly Gaso, next time you're on the treadly listen to hardcore history and you want even realise you're still riding as you get lost in the images he can create.

5 Star podcast

Love Dan Carlin, absolutely essential listening for anyone with the faintest interest in history.

He takes about three months to do each episode, the wait is worth it every single time.

Highly recommend the five part series on the mongols.

I plan on listening to them all. My wife must be wondering why I'm doing so much around the house at the moment. I put my headphones in, start on some job I've been meaning to do for Yonkers and get lost in his enthralling tales of history.

Once I finish blueprint for Armageddon I plan on starting with episode 1 and listening to every single Episode.

Can't wait

No, I will give it a listen very soon, thanks mate.

He has a way of making the listener sympathetic to all sides of the conflict.
, The Central Powers & the Ailes. He's fantastic at painting a mental picture of battles and military people, be it Generals or soldiers in the trenches or the civilian powers scheming from safety.

There's a particular quote he recites from a American historian that describes the German army marching to Belgium that has planted an image of the WW1 German in my head that will live with me forever.

Mate have a listen.

Will do.

I'm a huge fan of studying all historical perspectives and history's 'losers', in particular the Germans during both world wars.

Half way through.

F***en love it.

Have you listened to the Prophits of Doom yet?

That is so f***ing crazy that I had to keep checking history books to see if he was just making shit up.

Oddly enough, IMO, he paints the WW1 Germans as far from losers, they were just outnumbered. He even goes as far to suggest the world would have been better off if the Germans won WW1.

Not yet but will. The depth in which he goes to provide context is fantastic

Not the first time I've heard that argument and it is quite valid, though some historians cite the extremity of German war goals from 1914-17 to counter it.

The Second World War was definitely the case of being outnumbered, poor strategic decisions and poor early war manufacturing levels.

Apparently, according to the German military way of thinking (at the time) the most humane way of conducting war was to finish it quickly. Basically do horrific things to make the enemy surrender.

But as we all now know, this only drew previously neutral states into the conflict.

How did Hacksaw Ridge not win an Oscar, when that La La Land cleaned up o_O ? Job well done by Mel Gibson, my own rating 9/10 :thumbsu:

No one won anything yet.

It's a few more weeks.

Nominations for both.

But don't be surprised if Lion wins best picture.

Now stfu...I am watching Married at First Sight.
