Re: North Central Football League

Blah Blah Blah... I'm a possum... Blah Blah Blah.......

Oh, Kingrich: smashers just unhappy again. Has to revert back to the old minor league thing again- u know the stuff we hear from school kids. Ive seen a bit of North Central footy in my time and don't worry Kingrich it aint what Smasher makes it out to be. Ive also been lucky enough to get to a few minor league matches too and believe me, depending what minor league matches you are watching there aint any difference. I watched an old foe from Donald in a game late last year playing for a team in a a minor league and gee I tell you it mite be embarrassing for a couple of these major league teams to kit up against them. I guess thats why we see many of them shy away from Minor League teams come pre season

To my rescue again!

Lee Brown is the player you are referring to I presume (Top footballer!).
What did he kick? 110 or so? I'm pretty sure he only topped around 70-80 in our league. That's a fair difference!

Not many players in our league ever kick a tonne but when they do they must be a bloody good player!

Pretty sure he kicked just over 50 in 2005..think he missed a few games though!

did you play in the praccy match saturday smasher?

Re: North Central Football League

Avoca may or may not play finals in the MCDFL this year GOF. They will be middle of the road I would think but I expected that result against Boort!

As i've stated before when talking the Major league Vs Minor topic.

Wedderburn play Colbinabin and Carisbrook in practice matches each year. And 2 years in a row Carisbrook won the flag, and 2 years in a row Wedderburn spanked em. And one of those years we didn't even make finals.

The Fridge is playing at Waubra which was Last years Central Highlands Premiers. CHFL is a pretty strong league as far as minor leagues go and Waubra's list has got stronger this year with quality Ballarat league players going out for a run.
Their $140k salary cap would allow them to be a premiership chance in NCFL but they are far from your norm when it comes to minor leagues!

Minor or Major League it doesnt really matter, it is the quality of the team that counts. Ouyen United and Beulah in the Mallee leauge would push if not defeat Boort and Donald last year. North Central is a great League with its netball hockey and football, prob the greatest 'family' league going around but as far as its status as a major league that is pretty low. People dont go to the North Central to play 'Major League' footy they go to Bendigo or Ballarat etc to do that!

Re: North Central Football League

Maybe hated by Boort, but I'm just trying to put you back in your box. You all seem to think you've won the Grand Final already. Deja Vu eh?

Are you the enforcer on the football field? Or just one of those bloke's that are full of it?

Why don't you Boort people go win a premiership, or just try buy one like last year ;)

Smasher
Can you please justify the comment about Boort buying a premiership last year. Correct me if i'm wrong but by my calculations last season the only players they added to their list from the previous season were Lance, Terrick Maughanie (who only played part of the season) and Nelson who is a local.
For the record I do recall Luke Cooney playing several matches the year before.

Its an argument no one can win. Generally I respect your posts Pat. But:

A) You cant judge the strength of a praccy match side coz who knows how strong they are and:
B) Brook didn't come close to winning the flag last year.

Its a no win topic. Lets let it rest big cat!

They did win the previous two before that though (I think that is what he is referring to). Just get back on your minor league thread

Yes I can. They would have been in 2nd in spending up last year.
(I would try and speculate what they are on, but I've really got no idea except the players)
2 Piciaones would have been on BIG coin
3 Rutley's would have been on BIG coin
Luke Cooney the same
Maughanie for the game's he played
Gross wouldn't be free
Nelson (even though he is local, he'd be on a couple of bucks)
Ballarat boys (Bartram, etc) would need a bit to get through the week.

If you round that out it would be a majority of the team.
There wouldn't be many clubs that would fork out that sort of money regularly but as you say if you've got the money you may as well spend it (all for what though - Runners Up?)

Smasher. You can hardly forsee at the start of the year when you are agreeing to terms and payments that it wont be what it takes to win a premiership.
I'm sure Boort were thinking that they had paid the right amount of money to the right number of recruits to win the premiership. And to be honest they did recruit very well, just didn't go right on the day.

But hardly for nothing, i'd imagine that had they not have made last years grand final, the Melbourne Boys wouldn't be as keen to come back for another year.

I agree the argument will never be settled, however there is no reason you cant take something out of a practice match when you know both sides line up.

a) I have mates out at Colbo and knew who was missing from their line up each time we played them. I knew they would have smashed us by more in one of the years due to a few out, but i take it all into consideration.
b) smasher is right on this one, we have played them each year for a while now, dating back to when they went back to back, and not once did they get near us.

But like you said, in the end its an argument not worth persuing.

I agree with it all but Charlton's premiership team several years ago would not have even spend up even half as much but I can honestly say the Boort team last year would be given a hiding if they ever played each other!

Charlton did the right thing and recruited what they needed. Got a top line midfielder (first year - Barker, second year - Andrews/Barker was injured for most of the season) and one of the premier utilities (Dell). Yes each of them would have been on a packet all same, but they gave their locals a chance to prove themselves (which they proved) and that's what its all about.
