Re: North Central Football League

Wedd Def St Arnaud... 16.13 10.11

Stenhouse 9, too strong up forward...our guys just ran outta legs after 3 quarter time (scores tied up until then)

Solyom 7

Royce Benaim reported 4 Striking Solyom (took him 4 goes b4 he hit)

Isn't a report (as far as striking goes) supposed to be red card? i may be wrong..

more details later

How did the Burn's other recruits play there Roc???

Personally, i was expecting Barnes to carve it up, while he was noticed, wasn't really in your face noticable.

Gash played pretty well too..however id have rated Danny Benaim higher than him

Re: North Central Football League

Dion Hawkes after his biggest pre season to date, will stroll out for the Donald Seniors! lining up next to the L. Jones and the big bad bustling Barry Burke. Hawkes, told me he will kick 5 against any boort opponent that they put on him. After all the work he has done.

Welcome to the big time Dion!! O Goals. Donald were carved up all day and even with the Burkes playing posed no threat to Boort throughout. All recruits played well and Smasher may need to get back into his hole as it seems that the pies will be quite competitive this year.

I did say "quite competitive", which isn't really getting ahead of myself!!!
We had quite a few kids and young recruits running around. Committee have done a great job putting together a team over the last three to four weeks basically. Charlton will be the big test.

What kind of player is Stenhouse???

Re: North Central Football League

Surprise Surprise Boort very competitive.......... Top 4 I'd say Smasher!

Yer i agree with u Kingrich, Boort are gunna be a competitive side this yr and they showed that on weekend.....

They have a few gun new recruits in the likes of Troy Ferrier and Nicholas Reid... Good performers on the day were Craig Rutley back to his best aswell as Nicholas Reid who played an extremely good first game 4 Boort.... Nathen Gooding rucked well all day an Rob Rutley got alot of the ball up the ground..... Haldene Nelson was unstoppable from the half backline...... All added up to be a pretty comfortbale win 4 Boort on the day who were rarely tested by Donald.....

Re: North Central Football League

I tried to warn you fella's about stenhouse!

Roc, Your boys wouldn't be to disappointed with their efforts. 1 point up at 3/4 time suggests they have a lot to look forward to if they can keep improving.

Depending on how Charlton go (more importantly how Andrews goes) io would suggest Birchip, Wedderburn, St Arnaud and Charlton/Boort to make up the 4. I had Charlton picked in my top 4 back at the start of pre season so i guess i will have to stick with them.

Re: North Central Football League

R. Rutley won't get a kick, let alone a goal from HBF.
Only kicked goals last year because he had a top midfield feeding him.

Well you were spot on there Smasher, R Rutley didn't get "A" kick..he got about 30 of them!!! And 2 goals..:thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Re: North Central Football League

Boort did play quite well on the w/e! Killed Donald at the clearances all day. Rob Rutley, played loose in defence for the whole game, but did get his hands on the footy a bit.

Based on 2006 players and the transfers, I can't believe that Saints have improved enough to be ranked higher than Boort. They were hopeless last year. What has suddenly turned them into finals contenders Patty? Who made a difference on Saturday?

Yeah the statisticians love uncontested possesions! :p

Craig Rutley is a gun though! He'll be the difference between Boort making the finals or not

not everyone is required to be a the bottom of the pack smasher.....with reid, a.parker, bartram, c.rutley and a few others in and under i would be quite happy to have one bloke outside getting some uncontested balls, which can be used quite well. I dont think as the oppistion i would like a bloke on his own doing as he pleases for most of the game.

Yes I agree with you to a certain extent.

What's the go with naming A. Parker as an in and under player? C'mon! I doubt even GodOfFlesh and SuperBowlMVP would even say he is an in and under player

Addy got smashed up badly due to being far more courageous than he should be. Has never shirked an issue on the ground and is just as comfortable wrestling for the ball on the ground as he is roving loose balls. Have you actually seen this guy play??

Ady Parker is easily one of the hardest players i've played with for his size and light build...always in and under and putting his body on the line as you would have seen saturday!! Did you actually watch the game?

Of course I have! Wouldn't have classed him as an in and under player but oh well that's only my opinion and you boys play with him every week so it could be a better judgement.

Lol, the best way to stop a gun FF is stop the ball getting down there, and we failed to do that properly. as i said earlier, was Impressed with Benaim (Dannys) effort, played well. Our boys started to gel as a team, and with so many new faces, its only a matter of time... The part we are "dissapointed about" is basically how close, yet how far we were...Not a bad start to the year though.

MOR, How did your recruits perform in their first H&A match? Any stars out of that bunch who we should look out for?

There were a cpl in the side that stood out (Being Ian Moerman (who will put in a huge show for Rookie of the Year) Drum, Solyom with his 7 goals).
no one really dissapointed. We lost Mark Ciurleo early on in the game, and 4 or so of the guys cramped up late in the 3rd, and/or early in the last, which could be (in part) to blame for letting Wedderburn go, with Drum, Hyndman, Boyington, Lloyd all cramping up at times which were crucial for us... Im in no way saying that was THE reason, however it can't have helped

All in all, a good step forward on last year, against a side which is almost expected to be top 2
