Re: North Central Football League

Well well well, probably the most important round of matches so far this season. Wedderburn are now locked in at first on the ladder, and Wyche look like they're out of the finals race now. This leaves 2,3,4 and 5 up for grabs, with St.Arnaud effectively a game behind everyone because of their horror percentage. This is one of the more intriguing seasons in recent memory.

Re: North Central Football League

For Boort to win the flag, At this stage, they will have to beat St Arnaud or Birchip one week, either Charlton or Wedderburn in the next stage of finals, then the other of Charlton/Wedderburn the week after that.

2 games vs Birchip - 1 pt win, and 37 pt loss
1 game vs St Arnaud - Lost by 6 pts
2 games vs Charlton - 23 pt loss, and 17 pt loss
1 game vs Wedderburn - 43 pt loss

Is just 1 win from 6 games, against any of the other 4 finals contenders enough?

HOWEVER... Finals Footy, is a different kettle of fish

Re: North Central Football League

Can anyone tell me if Ross Funcke is still in the Vic Country Squad to play the VAFA in Ballarat on Sunday? Heard that a couple of ex donald boys David Clark and Travis Ruyg may be in the VAFA side.

Re: North Central Football League

From memory, they were both in the squad...along with Alistair Smith (Birchip) as for the side, dunno.

Ross was picked in the side, Wyatt wasn't

The VCFL side is picked tonight i think MOR, but its almost a given that Ross will make the side, luckily both Ross and Wyatt didnt make the side for the Donald Footy Clubs sake! Charlton on the rebound will be a tough assignment for the Royal Blues!

If that's the case and Ross did make the side, surely he won't be lining up for the Royal Blues on Saturday?
Representing the state would higher on the agenda than playing in a home and away game, that they will most likely lose!

Re: North Central Football League

MOR this may sound stupid but can you set up a poll or something to recognise how many players wear their socks up and how many wear them down when they take the field in NCFL?

Re: North Central Football League

English please Cliff if you're going to post on these forums... Would Birchip-Watchem be the number 2 side in the league at the moment, or are Charlton still ahead of them, maybe even St.Arnaud?

On Current form..

Wedd - Undefeated
St A - 1 loss in 6 games
Charlton - Lost 2 on the trot,
Birchip - 2 wins on the trot, but a few losses that from all reports, they should have won easily, prior, don't be surprised to see Birchip push up even more.
Boort - Seems as if the wheels have fallen off, Vital game this week, and it may decide which direction Boort take from here on. With the Rumoured injuries, to Gooding and co, it doesn't help the matter
Wyche - The loss on the weekend has pretty much guaranteed a place in 6th come September, however i wouldn't be surprised to see a win or 2 against the likes of Boort.
Donald - May snag a victory against the Dee's or Boort, but i think thats as far as it will go for the Royals.
Donald

Re: North Central Football League

I have a mate who used to play in this league for Wedderburn when they lost 2 Grand Finals in a row (think it was 2000 & 01) and went and watched him play at their ground a few times in the middle of the racecourse, so I keep a keen eye on their results.

Could someone please tell me if they are beatable this year or will they win their first flag for a LONG LONG time???

Re: North Central Football League

They have shown signs pointing both ways so far. I dont think theyre "Unbeatable" as such, but i think they will probably be undefeated come GrandFinal time. i dont think Wyche, Boort, or Donald can beat them, but i wouldn't be surprised if they dropped a game against Charlton, Birchip or St Arnaud.

Tend to agree there roc, they have not one every game easily they SHOULD have lost to B/W and charlton looked good against them evan St. Arnard matched them for 1 half of football.

The team is furthur improving with the return of Roh Mchugh, and Matt Sutherland will soon make his return. Things look good for the burn!!

Re: North Central Football League

MOR interested to know how Torine Petrie went on the weekend and if he will be available for the huge clash against Boort..

He played well. Nothing "brilliant" but was very solid.

He will be available for the huge clash against Boort, ONLY IF Pioneers have a "dumb blonde" moment and don't pick him.

NCFL wont see much of him at all for a while to come.

Re: North Central Football League

The return of Matt Sutherland is HUGE for Wedderburn. In my opinion, this shortens them even more for the flag coz he isn't be the sort of player to go missing when the heat is on.

He was a freak across half back a couple of years ago (granted he did manage to always get himself on the worst forward) and is as tough as anyone in the league. This will complete Wedderburns backline now, and will handle any forwardline in the comp - even StArnauds with Needs, Solyom and Hando. In saying that, if Cliff Ryan has a day out for BW, no one in this league will stop him - strong, not bad pace, and can jump.

One other thing to ponder, Wedd's backline with Sutherland, Barnes, Baird, Polgase and Benaim is there room for the coach in the first 18? The Redbacks team is very thick-set with a lot of big bodied boys but still have pace with Rose, Danny Benaim, etc.

Torin injured his shoulder late in the game on saturday and will miss 2-3 weeks it's planned he will resume playing through st arnaud, v wedderburn in a few weeks time.

Wheels haven't fallen off Roc.
Our 1st half of the season has been a bit flat and this is unacceptable.
We are lucky to be 5 and 5 with some of our performances to date.
This has been appropriately addressed and the next half of the season you will see a new Boort outfit, mark my words.

Well it's in writing now. You expect to better your 5-5 win/loss record from the first half of the year? I seriously doubt it.
