Whoever we draft need to play at least a few games in the vfl.
Do those players that don’t play aflw play no competitive games all year ??
some aflw clubs had players play in the vflw this year prior to the aflw season

we for some reason chose not to

agree at the least our new players and fringe players should be playing vflw next year to get games into them

at the moment the fringe players just play scratch matches with 2 other clubs fringe players every other weekend when they can organise it during the year to get some sort of numbers to make up 2 sides

slocombe, stubbs, bogue and our new draftees at a min should be playing vflw next year in the leadup to the aflw season

Amazing pick up.

I hadn't heard anything about Sheerin wanting to leave the Tigers, and suddenly she is coming across to Arden Street, this sounds like another one of Crocks six-day miracles.

My only concern is we traded our first round pick for a 32yo, but she has proven herself to be a dynamic halfback or midfielder.

I think she would need to have at least 2/3 seasons left in her to make it worthwhile trade, but she did finish second behind Conti in the Tigers Best & Fairest this season despite missing a couple of games.

Not sure anyone saw this coming. The club is going absolutely all-in for another flag while the core senior group are still there

Well I thought I went early calling it in round one last season, but the lid is off. Back to back here we come!

Part of me was hoping that we’d line up with the Premiership 21 in at least one game next year. It’s a well known factoid that a premiership team has never lined up exactly the same way in a subsequent season (at least in the AFL, not 100% sure about the W).

But progress is progress and I love that we are trying to strike while the iron is hot. Who does Sheerin turf out though?

That's what I don't get. Do the players who aren't selected play at a different level in another comp or something? How can you develop someone properly if they're not getting actual game time at a reasonable standard?
At AFLW level, unselected players play in a group practice match against other clubs unselected players in some hybrid simulation, according to Crocks.

i'd play her on the wing with a few short bursts in the centre

oh wow back to back is a lock

shes 32 tho, pick 18 is steep for someone with only maybe 2 years left
Yeah it's a big price for that age but she's 2nd in their B&F and played well against us.
GWS may have offered pick 21 in a trade given she's from NSW. Swans pick 40 obviously not enough.

I was kinda hoping we'd get a good young player at pick 18, preferably a tall forward.
Are we anticipating losing someone? I would think that would have happened early. Can you trade futures?

She made the All-Australian Team twice as a running halfback, and last season she played primarily in the midfield and I think may have spent some time in the forward half as well, so perhaps she can fill in anywhere and replace anyone. It will be an interesting conundrum for Crocker and the coaches.

Some quotes from the Richmond board. Truly AFLW is the bizarro-AFL and we are the Geelong equivalent. It’s wonderful.
That’s a horrific trade but also how can the Kangaroos afford her in the cap?

Surely it's a coincidence that AFL's executive GM of footy previously worked at Kangaroos.

For me I think the first thing the afl needs to do is align the aflw season with the vflw season to give the girls not picked in the aflw teams a chance to develop their skills which can only help the game in the long term.

You read my mind.

Either that or the Vic girls that haven’t been named form a mini comp, just to get some match practice

Unfortunately we all know the afl lacks the common sense to do that.

According to some, the Sheerin deal is still to be agreed upon.
The Tigers remained at an impasse with Essendon over dynamic 20-year-old forward Paige Scott, but on Tuesday night were close to agreeing a deal for two-time All-Australian midfielder Eilish Sheerin to join North Melbourne.

Also, the Pullar deal with Sydney is still to be finalised.
North Melbourne’s Lulu Pullar was still expecting to get to Sydney on the final day of the period, while GWS former No. 1 pick Nicola Barr was on track to get her move to St Kilda in a three-way deal which would reunite the Saints’ Grace Kelly with her sister Niamh at the Crows.

AFLW trade: Tayla Harris talks to come down to wire on deadline day
