If you are talking about Vicki Wall, they had an impeccable reason and I'd recommend anyone in their position do the same. They were a co-designer of our Pride guernsey as well.
l would have said Aileen Gilroy considering she was still playing with us until after the B&F...

I thought when she announced that she was going to try and qualify for the Olympics, Vikki also mentioned she would return to North next season.

Stupid question maybe but where did you find the members barcode. My one from the men’s season isn’t working despite both being on the same card
Yeah, check the email that you probably got from the club today. It included a 12 digit number for each membership.

I suspect this is the right call, but another thing about the short seasons - it’s very hard to judge coaching performance. He had a season with Davey and Bonnici out of action. This season Sleischer and Butler barely available, among other significant injuries. Between that and the fact their draw turned out to have by far the fewest easy wins, it’s hard to use “missing finals” as a yardstick.

Also Lambert, Chiocci (sp?) and Molloy were three of their best players and all left

Well they also traded out a few handy players for this season - Jaimee Lambert, Steph Chiocci, and Chloe Molloy would punch a hole in any list. It would be staggering if anyone in authority at the Collingwood Football Club sincerely thought they should play finals this season.

Edit - north_lad beat me to it.

Astonishing if Craig Kelly doesn’t have his finger on the pulse.

It's just that they obviously decided to let these players go and trade in younger players and go to the draft as a rebuild on the run. You have to accept that there's going to be a dip in results at least for a year or two. The fact that they went close to finals with the injury run that you mentioned is a credit to the coach and his staff.

NORTH Melbourne champion Jasmine Garner has been crowned the AFLW's best player by the League's coaches for the second year in a row.
Garner finished the home-and-away season with 81 votes in the AFL Coaches' Association Champion Player Award, seven ahead of Sydney's Laura Gardiner (74) and well clear of Brisbane's Ally Anderson, who finished third on 65 votes.

It's the third time Garner has won the award following her triumphs in 2020 and 2022. She is the only multiple winner of the award.
At the end of each game during the home-and-away season, the coaches of both teams gives votes in a 5-4-3-2-1 format to who they believe are the best players on the ground. The maximum a player can get in a game is 10 votes, five from each coach.

Garner got the maximum 10 votes on five occasions, which is half of the games she played, and polled in all 10 games during the season.
"We feel so lucky to have Jas at our club and to have had a front-row seat to another outstanding season by her," North coach Darren Crocker said.
"She is a special player, and to win this award for a third time is great recognition of her constant drive to get better and be the best she can be for the team."

North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos star Jasmine Garner has been crowned the AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year for a third time after a stellar 2023 campaign.
Garner polled votes in every game, including five perfect 10s, to finish with 81 votes ahead of Sydney's Laura Gardiner (74) and Brisbane's Ally Anderson (65).
The AFLCA AFLW Champion Player of the Year is an award voted by the AFLW senior coaches on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort by an individual player in a season.

Garner led the Kangaroos' engine room in 2023 with an average of 30 disposals, seven clearances, 543 metres gained and a goal per game. Her standout performance came in Round 7 against Port Adelaide, where she amassed a career-high 39 disposals and set an AFLW record of 789 metres gained.
Teammate Ash Riddell also placed sixth for the coveted award with 61 votes.

All that Jas: Garner's incredible season in numbers

  • 71 inside 50s - No.1 in the AFLW
  • 115 effective kicks - No.1
  • 300 disposals - No.2
  • 71 clearances - No.2
  • 156 contested possessions - No.2
  • 108 ground ball gets - No.2
  • 56 score involvements - No.3
  • 8 goal assists - No.4
AFLCA CEO Alistair Nicholson congratulated Garner on her season and being crowned the AFLCA AFLW Champion Player of the Year again in 2023.
"Jasmine continues to wow the competition, performing to an incredibly high standard season after season. Winning back-to-back AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year awards and her third in her career is incredible," Nicholson said.
"Jasmine should be very proud to be recognised by the coaches again with this award. She polled five perfect scores and votes in every match of the season, which is an outstanding feat.
"The coaches have a unique perspective on what succeeds in each of the games, which, combined with the thought that goes into allocating the votes, makes this one of the most prestigious of all the individual awards."

Kangaroos senior coach Darren Crocker acknowledged Garner’s constant drive to be the best she can for the team.
"We feel so lucky to have Jas at our club and to have had a front-row seat to another outstanding season by her," Crocker said.
"She is a special player, and to win this award for a third time is great recognition of her constant drive to get better and be the best she can be for the team."

Gunna be fun to see how big the difference between the umpires and coaches votes is.
Would you think the umpires will have learnt from previous seasons.
