The AFL were quick to include all 18 teams into the league, but they are taking their time making it a "fair" competition.

They are putting a lot of weight on crowds but not doing the commensurate work of playing at accessible venues, at accessible time, nor leaning on journalists to turn up and write about the games, nor providing facilities for the ABC (at least) to be at every game. They don't want a longer season.

Squad for round 4

Shierlaw and Bruton return.

Not that you should need it, but if crowd numbers are what the decision is based on there’s some incentive to get down to watch the girls play. Any increase in games would mean we might finally get to play some of the weaker teams!

Far be it for me to suggest to you Luke, that maybe are not getting such a bad run against the weaker teams, but I just checked last years final ladder and we do play 5 teams in the bottom 9 from last year, being GWS, Fremantle, St. Kilda, Carlton and Port Adelaide.

Granted the five from last years top 9 we play are Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Geelong and the Western Bulldogs, who occupied 4 of the top 5 spots, so arguably they are a tougher ask than the 5 from the bottom 9. However I don't think there is too much of an in balance.

However the bottom line is, if we are good enough, then we should triumph over that slight in balance. The way we fought back against the Cats (and the umpires) last week, gives me hope that we are good enough to at least make the top 4.

Bruton for craven
Shierlaw for considine

Should be the changes

Leaving the bench to be Pullar, Tripodi, Wright, Bruton and gavalas
You got it right for once. Well done. :)

I just watched the Melb-Hawks game. Melb have played weak teams to open their season but they are pure fire. I'm not sure how we would stop them? They can score - 7 goal scorers tonight, 4 others took shots that missed. They are even across every line. They can run all day. As much as I'm in awe of the S8 Roos, could we beat the Dees?

It was only against the Hawks, who weren't very good tonight, even by their standards. I think the Hawks went into the game with a purely defensive mindset and tried to limit the bleeding which is why they looked only remotely more likely to score than the Blues did when they played us.

I do think the Dees are still the team to beat, I think they are beatable, and I think we can beat them. It should be a great midfield battle with Rennie, Garner, Riddell, the Kings and Bruton up against Pearce, Hanks, Paxman, Purcell, Mithen and Campbell. Bring On October 21.
