Little girls but?

Plus being a hero in front of your mates makes you sound like a noofa
Being a hero by moving away is pretty damn heroic in my opinion. Deescalation of situation with someone holding a fixed point of view.

If they go winless then sure, otherwise no.

The GC handouts of recent times were beyond ridiculous, and if I recall the AFL's tune last time North Melbourne were struggling they basically said we're not going to give them handouts if they struggle again.

What handouts?

We've never had any onfield special help.

he was a very handy player at his best

I'm not sure what has happened with polec or pittard to tell you the truth

Polec only near his best in a contract year. Port were smart enough to know the year he had before leaving isn't where you set his contract value. Got the big bucks and returned to cruising knowing he probably won't get another contract. But he'll put in for the last year just in case there's a club stupid enough to think he would continue that form for a couple of years. Roos being totally shit in a footy sense probably doesn't help.

If the AFL have to keep dishing out PP then maybe it's time to review the actual draft, because after all it is supposed to ensure each club has an opportunity to play finals.

The problem is that if you are bottom for an extended period, you will have every opportunity to build a strong young list. It obviously takes some patience.
If, after 4 years you are still bottom, then maybe you can apply for a PP.

Melbourne clubs have such a big advantage over clubs from QLD in particular that they should never be in a position to ask for a hand out.
Gold Coast lost their 2 captains in 1 year (unheard of!!), and Brisbane lost 4 great kids due to homesickness. They are the exception.

The don’t keep dishing out PP’s. The AFL just recorrected GC, and set them up, as the AFL want them to succeed after investing so much into them. The AFL was pretty much announcing they were done with PP’s before that. No team will get one this year.

Yeah i agree they needed it. A non-footballing state, still being established, lost not 1 but 2 captains etc etc. Something needed to happen
But there should be no opportunity/debate for clubs from established footballing states who aren't being ravaged by the 'go home factor' or any other extenuating circumstances. Otherwise any club down for a couple of years will ask the question.

3rd pick in last year's draft and likely 1st pick in this year's draft on top of the 1st pick in the mid draft. If they have a bad year next year, North will have another 1st. On top of picks in the early 20s in each draft you would expect them to get back up. They will have every opportunity to rebound. That's why we have a draft system favouring the clubs that finish bottom. It's those mid table consistently that are at a disadvantage.

The Crows in rounds 1 and 8 last season only lost by 3 points. Now compare our first 8 rounds, we havent even been remotely close to a win.
Shorter quarters last year. Some games in our long losing streak would have been well over 100 points under normal quarter length.

I say no PP for north but if it is looked at then Adelaide should get one too as we may not win a other game this season with our draw to come and we finished last last year and could easily finish 17th this year

Where were the calls for the crows to get a priority pick last year when they lost the first 13 games, hadn't won a game in 12 months and were widely considered the worst side in 30 seasons?

VFL crap as usual this discussion.

Crows potentially receiving a priority pick after starting 0-7 were part of the landscape last year.

Crows and North both have the exact same trajectory

2018 - 12 wins
2019 - 10 wins
2020 - 3 wins

If either has a second 3 win or less season, surely would be a chance to be given some additional assistance.

And to add to this in 2017 crows were on top of the ladder

Whilst North were bottom 4

So we will be headed towards 3 seasons of bottom 4 in 5 years

And for us this year could genuinely be a 1 win or winless year whereas crows already have 3 wins

The Crows were also fully expecting to get Band 1 compensation for Brad Crouch as well.

It's a bit disingenuous for Adelaide fans to say "well we never even considered a priority pick" when they thought they were getting pick 2 from Crouch anyway.

Which isn't a priority pick. It's free agency.
But good try though.

Big difference in being gifted a PP for nothing (see gold coast) and then thinking you will get band 1 compo for your best midfielder if he leaves on a big contract

It is a competition, we have equalisation measures in place so bottom teams can rebuild.

If you are a well run club you will climb the ladder, if not you don't deserve to.

Priority picks are utter crap and need to be abolished all together.

Roos need help IMO, but PP's are never the answer.

It's like giving money to someone who is financially irresponsible. It's a lifestyle (or culture, in this case) that they subscribe to and it requires change at a deeper level. You simply cannot throw them a bone and expect them to fix it.

Whole club needs a review from top to bottom, cut out the rotten flesh.

Poor list management decisions, heck even jumping the gun and appointing Rhys Shaw without a proper process behind it was a snap decision that proved costly.

Decent point

Wtf. One of the biggest wooden spoon droughts in the league

Yep it's really easy to predict mental health issues. What are you smoking bro

The problem is that the draft isn't enough to make up for the imbalance caused by free agency (ie. not being able to attract free agents when you are bottom of the ladder). Not to mention that the draft is compromised up the wazoo with academies (Bulldogs got the #1 pick after finishing 7th!) and father-son. The draft isn't actually very good as an equalisation.

But they did that last year..
hired Roos for mentoring, new coaching staff, new list management team, gutted the list because of issues, notice none of them got picked up..

so now that’s all in order what happens next?

Roos need help IMO
They don't need help, they're tracking exactly how they want to at this point. Looks to be a deliberate strategy by the board. To what end? I don't know but being shit at the moment is part of the plan you do have to admire the boldness of the plan.

You could argue they might need a new board, management and strategy though.

That is pretty fair, and that is something the AFL needs to fix.

Get rid of father son, get rid of academies and it starts to become a lot more balanced.
