It’s just so obvious…. the rootin tootin Sainteroo’s

19 team comps gunna be diabolical

Red , blue black and white jumpers will look sweet

Kangaroo with a halo as the mascot

See how many ‘ I’ll burn myself in the street if this happens “ types stay away if they win a flag or 2 early on

Sainteroo’s get the cream of the lists but Tassie also gets a nice bundle of depth to help them not be crap from the get go

I'd personally rather fold. Why don't we just **** off the teams that haven't won a flag in nearly 70 years or ever.... That would actually make sense.

Then whats the point? Who exactly is paying North and Gold Coast to play in WA?

The idea is to make money out of it
Noone will go to that.
But north v saints
Or north v hawks will get 25-30k

Both have solid support in Perth and if its saturday night game you get travelling fans who can come from Melbourne and travel back sunday

But again, who is paying for that? Theyll get more fans at a game at Marvel than they would going to Perth

The idea was for Wce or Freo to pay for the home game off North, not North and some other club to traipse over the country just to not even play the local teams.
The WA government wont be rushing in to buy a game from Marvel when there is very little reward for the people of WA.

They need to be playing against Wce or Freo at Optus to get value out of it

Why would the AFL schedule a bottom 4 team to play a home game in WA against a top 4 team in 2025?

How would the side who missed the top 8 feel if Freo pipped them by a win or percentage? Fans would be seriously pissed off and fair enough.

It's fine if the additional home game doesn't gift a contending side or side who are just make the top 8 by getti g a win against a bottom 4 side.

Pretty sure that's why it was knocked back years ago when the Eagles were contending g.
They would feel like freo in 2024 after
A ball was touched off the boot bounced of a forearm travelled 10m and paid the mark straight in front then paid another goal for dissent and miss finals because of that result
It would be good for freo to be on the other end of an AFL decision

So really really p!ssed off.

Because of poor fixturing.

Crap umpiring and a league that is addicted to changing rules every year. (Does any other sport in the world change the rules as much as the AFL?)

Well every team has to put up with that unfortunately.

Only cost 1 team a finals spot
If saints can play a home game against pies at g for financial reasons (150 year)
Why can’t north play a home game at Optus

Are you saying that you are. Ore chance of winning in Perth?
Not far off. WA is probably the one away trip, and maybe SCG, where North generally play no worse than at Docklands. That doesn't mean winning all the time, but generally no bigger a losing margin than in Melbourne. We're about 50-50 in Perth over the last three years, far better than at home, part of that is WC also being weak of course but it does include beating Freo.
Who knows why, games in Queensland and South Australia (if memory serves, still haven't won in that state since Football Park was in use) seem to generally be anywhere from 5-8 goals worse than expected pummelling so its not like North are fantastic travellers generally.

That said, I do think its a blindingly stupid idea to play home away games at the away team's venue, and the AFL should reject it outright.

It’s actually a good thing for the WA clubs. Clearly they needed some evening up from a travel perspective and one game each will certainly help a little.

As a supporter of a relatively small club I wouldn’t love it if in this day and age we as a club had to sell home games to other teams, especially whilst we’re trying to climb up the ladder.

Never been to WA so I just assumed they would as Freo is a southern suburb
Nah. WC are massive over here, they would have at least 60% of the state's support base.

You should get one of those Melb - Busselton flights. Great part of the country, its beautiful around there.

I feel itll be West Coasst getting the Bunbury game in 2025.
Give us the round 2 home game at Optus vs North for Darlings 300th, then we can go down to Bunbury later in the year for our "away" game vs North.
