Probably Josh Riddle i suppose. He is great in defence and to be honest i would have put him in the Top 5 of the final series last year not far behind jacko

I agree on Riddle as a player he looks very promising, and I have a high opinion of him for sure. That finals match against the Rebels was awesome.

But doesn't he go to private school and would that impact on his chance of being captain if he has school footy?

Yeh he goes to a Private School. If it was going to be much of an impact on him i dont reckon he would bother playing. Not sure if he's got a scholarship at Ivanhoe but none the less probaly would take captaincy for such a big thing.

May as well have my say on the topic of coaches!!

If he has been offered an AFL position it wouldnt be the first time a TAC Cup club has had their coach targetted effectively during the middle part of the pre-season by an AFL club. In my view it is a disgrace, because it shows a lack of professionalism and organisation by the AFL club not to have staff appointed by January, but also a lack of respect for the TAC Cup. And if Connell takes the job, which is fully deserving because he has shown coaching qualities, it surely sets the Northern Knights back quite some way in their plans for 2006.

Perhaps they have good people currently as assistants who can take over the job so the club's pre season isn't set too far back by having to find a new coach, but the competition as a whole deserves the best coaches and an opportunity for the best people to apply for the positions without clubs having to find band aid solutions because they dont have the time to search far and wide for the right person.

I'm sure Mr Code and co in at Football Victoria want their TAC coaches to establish careers in the AFL as well as most of us would, but at the same time perhaps they need to put a stop to coaches walking away from TAC Cup roles and TAC Cup responsibilities, and I assume TAC cup coaching contracts, ten weeks away from Round 1 matches to take up AFL gigs.

I heard the Roos have offered him the role as Development Coach.
You heard right. Was offered just before christmas and accepted just after. Good luck to him, did a good job with the Knights last year but, as footyman said, the Knights are now set back by the move

Yeh good choice, good bloke but will play school footy ruling him out for the majority of the season which may go against him. I'm betting Nick Meese
