Yep, correct, eligible in two national drafts and one rookie draft and not picked at all.

I hope it works out for him too, but as I've said before it seems he's been handed the "jackpot" when a number of other guys just as deserving - and just as stuff - have had to look at VFL, SANFL or AFLQ. Hopefully he makes the most of the very, very lucky opportunity he's been given.

The recruiters have had a close look at Tom, I'm not quite sure AFL Victoria's has any influence on the GWS Tac team.

Do the Northern Knights have any overagers?

If any previous decisions are anything to go by AFL Vic would be highly unlikely to grant an overage position for Tom at the NN.

Mind you I think the GWS TAC team will need all the help they can get!
Maybe that's the reason behind the decision.

AFL Vic would have no influence at all over GWS. They do with the overagers in the Victorian TAC Cup clubs, Anton Grhack and Leon Harris have to approve the players the club ask for. I'm pretty sure you are right, Tom Hill would not have been given another year at TAC Cup with the Knights.

Yes, the Knights do have overage players this year - five of them I believe.

My cousin is an under-age player playing for the Knights this season. He's a key-position forward who has a very similar style to that of one Buddy Franklin. He goes by the name of J. Breukel, should be one to watch...
Not sure at 183cm you can call him a key position player let alone the style of Buddy Franklin.

I reckon the stand out at the Knights is Michael Mascoulis. Wouldn't be surprised if he's picked up early this year by GWS as an underage player. Very classy player and appears to have all the necessary tools.

adam marcon anyone? i remember dennis pagan saying on tac cup future stars he is one to watch... ive played with him and reckon he will have a big year... played a fair bit last year too as a bottom ager. thoughts?

Dont worry about Marcon. The kid can play mate. Will be a dominant force for the knights this year and has been added to Vic Metro 18s. Look for him to take some big scalps

saw him on the weekend - very good game. Handball release is a real feature and in the modern game good hands in close are highly valued.

Saw the game against gws where unfortunately Northern Knights much too strong. Bardon was superb (except for goalkicking where only very good), Marcon and Caddy excellent and alround strong team. The only area a little concerning was in the ruck where the gws 15 year old was very competitive. Should have looked to get a little more physical which would have lead to greater dominence.

Should look forward to a good season.

what are peoples thoughts on Witkowski?
missed all of last year with stress fractures in his foot... that boot really suited him if you ask me ... but anyway.
he was added to the metro list as an overage and is a genuine star!
possible draftee? any other that could be picked up by and AFL club?

Saw the game today, Barden again was V Good. Took plenty of marks, tried hard all day, kicked four and set up a few more. Some other good players for the knights were Marcon and Treloar.

Knights look very impressive so far this year, they are a much bigger side than last year probably due to having more top agers. Should be pushing the four this year.

For the weekend, against Vic Country there are four Knights in the squad...
Glenn Grgic
Adam Marcon
Darcy Barden
Billy Longer

Buckley, Witkowski, Caddy and Marchbank not selected to play this time around. Treloar missed out altogether on making the 40.

What are peoples thoughts on some of the above names?

bit of an outrage caddy didnt get picked one of the form onballers of the comp. perhaps they thought they already had enough mids.
dont think bucjley desereved a game form hasnt been good enough to justify selection. m

marchbank probably should have been selected as they dont have enough talls.

He's probably a bit unlucky, but his time will come I'm sure. As you rightly point out, so much midfield depth in that metro side. Most of the selected side for Sunday is capable of having a run on ball.

Caddy didnt not get picked.. Hes had a foot injury, missed the last 4 TAC games, had his first game back today against GWS, kicked 7, and will feature for Vic next week now that hes had a game under him
